42 Things To Do Nusa Dua, Bali: Thrilling Activities Near Nusa Dua Beach

Thinking of a holiday in Bali? Nusa Dua has to be on your list of places to stay. With Nusa Dua Beach offering warm, golden sand and beautiful turquoise views of the Indian Ocean, it’s one of the most popular resort destinations on the island.

It also has plenty of attractions to keep you interested when you arrive. From the Puja Mandala, Geger Beach, Beach Bars, Beach Games, and so much more.

There are plenty of Nusa Dua activities for everyone to enjoy and we’ve picked 42 amazing things to do in Nusa Dua for you to add to your Bali itinerary.

Where Is Nusa Dua, Bali?

NUSA DUA FINNS BALI MAP

Nusa Dua is on the Bukit Peninsula in South Kuta (Kuta Sel) and it’s not too far from Uluwatu, the other beach towns of Canggu, Kuta, Seminyak and Legian or Denpasar Airport.

How To Get To Nusa Dua

Taking Luggage out of Trunk

Assuming that you’re coming from the Ngurah Rai International Airport, most hotels in Nusa Dua will offer a free airport transfer service and that means they will arrange for a driver to meet your flight and collect your luggage and bring you to the hotel.

If the airport pickup is a paid service, it’s still convenient but it might be cheaper to use Grab or Go-jek the local equivalents of Uber to book a ride.

From elsewhere in Bali, it’s fine to use Grab or Gojek if they’re available and you will get to the Nusa Dua Beach area in comfort without being ripped off while using these services.

We would note that if you’re on the other side of the island and coming to Nusa Dua, then the best option might be to hire a private car and driver. This service should cost around 500,000 IDR ($35 USD or $50 AUD) for 8 hours including the car, driver and petrol. It can work out cheaper than ride-sharing over long distances.

When’s The Best Time To Visit Nusa Dua?

young male surfer riding in ocean at Nusa Dua Beach, Bali, Indonesia

Nusa Dua is a beach destination and it’s most popular in the dry season when the sea breeze is a bit stronger, temperatures are a bit cooler, it’s less humid and it doesn’t rain too regularly.

However, that’s also peak season and it means the nearby resorts are more expensive and so are flights.

Don’t worry about opting to come in the rainy season, though, as apart from the Christmas to New Year period, this is the off-season and it’s quite a bit cheaper to stay here and get here at that time of year.

It doesn’t rain all day, either, and, in fact, Bali gets an average of 8 hours of sunshine each day in the wet season! So, you’ll be fine to go sunbathing on Nusa Dua Beach and enjoy a Sunday brunch without getting soaking wet.

Water Blow

Nestled between two cliff faces in Nusa Dua is the water blow and it’s an incredible experience.

The waves race toward the gap between the cliffs and the water is compressed into a creamy foam that breaks apart in the air, gently coating onlookers with a cooling mist of ocean water.

It’s not far from the Grand Hyatt if you’re intending to visit that resort but you can easily get a Grab or Gojek to this point from anywhere in Nusa Dua.

Puja Mandala

Puja Mandala is a unique place dedicated to all of the major religions of the Indonesian archipelago.

In order to be an official religion in Indonesia, a religion must subscribe to a single all-encompassing god and be believed by a reasonable number of Indonesians.

This means you can find a Hindu temple, a Buddhist temple, a Catholic Church, a protestant church, and a mosque within the grounds here.

You will often find worshippers of a mixture of faiths mixing together here and enjoying celebrations, festivals, etc.

This is an unusual place to visit as it’s basically a monument in the centre of a roundabout system.

However, if you were to view the roundabouts from above, you would see that they are laid out in a sacred mandala as used in Hinduism.

FAQs

Is Nusa Dua Worth Going To?

Yes! Nusa Dua Beach is routinely listed as the nicest beach in Bali and its white sands are warm, soft and welcoming. The water in the area is turquoise and tropical too.

Nusa Dua is also home to some of the swankiest brand-name resorts on the island and it’s considered to be a premier holiday destination in Bali.

If you don’t mind spending some cash to have a relaxing, entertaining family vacation, then Nusa Dua could be the perfect destination for you.

And as you can see from our list above, there are plenty of things to do in Nusa Dua and if you do get bored, it’s not far from Uluwatu, Canggu, Seminyak, Kuta, Legian and even Ubud in a car.

You could even visit FINNS Beach Club, the world’s best beach club, for a day trip from Nusa Dua.

Is There Much To Do Around Nusa Dua?

Yes! While there’s not quite as much to do around Nusa Dua Beach as there is in Canggu or Kuta, the area has plenty of attractions and it’s an amazing place for fine dining thanks to the big-name luxury resorts based there.

If you enjoy watersports, golf, relaxing on the beach, swimming pool areas, etc. then you’re going to find plenty to keep you entertained in the area.

Oddly, the only thing this area really lacks from a visitor’s standpoint is an amazing shopping area, a strange oversight given that it tends to attract upscale tourists who might enjoy browsing Bali’s designer brands.

What Is Nusa Dua Best Known For?

Luxury resorts such as Mulia Resort, Hotel Grand Hyatt, Melia Resort, the Apurva Kempinski, the St. Regis Bali, etc. and white sand beaches.

Nusa Dua, Bali, Indonesia is an upscale tourist resort and while you won’t find much in the way of authentic Balinese culture in the area there’s so much to see and do in this part of the island by the Indian Ocean that you can’t be bored.

Is Seminyak or Nusa Dua Better?

That very much depends on you and what you’d like to get out of your holiday. Nusa Dua tends to attract families who are looking for resort destination breaks.

That is they intend to spend the majority of their time within the confines of their resort and occasionally venture out for some exploration of the rest of the island.

They expect kids clubs, swanky pool areas, watersports lessons, etc. and, perhaps, access to Bali National Golf Club.

Seminyak, on the other hand, tends to attract younger crowds who are there to see and be seen. They expect parties, and shopping and they spend less time in their hotels than people who visit Nusa Dua tend to.

Both areas are very popular parts of Bali for a holiday and you can have a great time in either destination, but they are designed to attract different crowds.

Can You Walk Around Nusa Dua?

There is a long pathway that joins many of the resorts in Nusa Dua and it’s quite safe and pleasant to use.

However, it’s very hot and humid here in Bali and the resorts are quite spread out – which may mean that you don’t really want to follow the path very far.

If you intend to walk along the roads here in Bali, including in Nusa Dua, you need to be hypervigilant as driving standards are poor and both sidewalks and roads are poorly maintained.

Children will need to be carefully supervised on walks along the roads as there’s a real risk of accidents.

However, once you get used to them, it is possible to stroll along by the road, it’s just not very relaxing.

How To Book A Holiday In Nusa Dua?

We always recommend that you book a holiday in Bali through the Bali Res Centre.

They can ensure you get great deals on a hotel near Nusa Dua Beach, excellent prices on flights and deals on travel and entry to Bali Nusa Dua Theatre and the Bali National Golf Club too.

Final Thoughts On Nusa Dua Attractions

If you’re thinking of booking a holiday in Bali, Nusa Dua is a place that you’re bound to be considering.

Nusa Dua Beach is considered to be the jewel in the crown of Bali’s beaches and there are so many things to do in the area that you won’t be bored.

Of course, if you do decide to stay in Nusa Dua, you can still take a day trip to the best spot on the Indian Ocean in Bali – FINNS, the world’s best beach club. We hope to see you soon.
