This used to be Bar 68 but now it’s a more nightlife-oriented place that specializes in whiskey, live music, and cold beer.
There’s a decent pool table in here too and it’s a great place to escape the crowds and enjoy a night of conversation as well as fun.
However, it has to be noted that several patrons have felt that the cocktails are a bit understrength here.

Rooftop Bar @ U Paasha Seminyak Hotel
This swanky bar is at one of the many luxury boutique hotels in the Seminyak area and it runs down the side of their massive rooftop pool!
You can sit out on the pool deck and lounge around on the cushions and beanbag chairs here.
However, we would note – there’s no magical sunset view here, you can only see the Seminyak skyline, no ocean, beach or surfers.
The plus side is that you can walk in and use this rooftop bar unlike many of the other hotel bars in the area that require you to be a guest to get in.

La Favela Bar & Restaurant In Bali
La Favela is a really unique place and we recommend taking a camera because it will look fabulous in your Instagram feed.
What we love about La Favela, however, is its very chilled-out vibe. This is a place to come at night when you want to relax and enjoy the tunes.
Then at around 11 p.m. each night a guest international DJ kicks off a party that lasts until the very early hours of the morning. It’s great.

In a country where gay bars are generally frowned upon, the exception is in Bali and Bali Joe is considered to be the best gay bar in Seminyak.
Lesbians and other queer folks are welcome too and the drag performance here are legendary.
The drinks are reasonably priced and more than strong enough to be good value.
The best nights out at Joe’s are when they have the celebrity lookalike contests and everyone votes for the winner. Great times.

Mixwell is another popular gay bar and again, it has some amazing drag routines on each and every night.
They regularly have celebrity lookalikes lip-synching to your favourite tunes and some hunky fellas on the stage gyrating to it.
If you like a camp time and you want that camp turned up to 11, you can find it at Mixwell.

They have a nightly happy hour too which sees two-for-one specials from 8pm – 9pm

The performances are quite short at only 2-3 hours each, but if you want a relaxing night out to some great jazz music. You can’t go wrong here.
It’s a lovely place for a glass of red wine and some plates of tasty tapas.
We would note that the main area here is up some very steep stairs and if you like a drink, getting back down the stairs may not be as easy as getting up them was.
Note: As we go to press this venue is temporarily closed for renovations, please contact them before you travel to ensure that they have re-opened for business.

Jenja Club
Jenja has gone through something of a transformation recently and parted ways with a lot of their long-term DJs.
As you might expect, this hasn’t made everyone happy and the crowd is torn between embracing the new music direction and going elsewhere.
We think it will eventually return to being one of the most amazing party venues on the island but if things aren’t quite as upbeat for the next few months, that’s why.
There is a dress code and it is enforced. So, please make sure you’re not wearing sports or alcohol-branded gear and definitely no thongs or singlets if you want to get in.

Recent Nightlife Losses In Seminyak
Several bars and clubs have closed in recent years in Seminyak due to the impact of the pandemic. These include the Baker Street Social (we miss you Baker Street Social), Envie Lounge, other bars and more. It’s always best to check before you travel to see if a club or pub is still open.
Our reviews are re-checked regularly to ensure that venues are still there, but we can’t check every place in Bali on a daily basis. So, please call or email before you travel any significant distance.
Does Seminyak Have Good Nightlife?
Yes. In fact, until fairly recently, Seminyak nightlife was probably the best in Bali. It’s more upscale than the nearby areas of Kuta and Legian which are also popular nightlife spots.
There are often famous DJs, in-house guests, house music, hip hop, etc. at the clubs and unlike most of the rest of Indonesia there are gay bars in Seminyak.
Whether you’re in search of a trendy Italian restaurant, excellent house cocktails, live Latin music, cheap drinks, drag queens, or anything else you can find it in the Seminyak Nightlife scene.
What Is The Best Street For Nightlife In Seminyak?
The main party area in Seminyak is in or around Jalan Camplung Tanduk and many people say it’s the busiest part of Seminyak.
Whereas Jalan Taman Ganesha which is another popular resort spot, has much less in the way of nightlife.
What Is The Dress Code For Seminyak Nightlife?
It very much depends on where you go. If you’re just going to a beach bar or local warung, you can usually wear anything you like except for your swimming clothes.
The more upscale the place you go to, the more likely it is that they will have a dress code and that they will enforce it.
There is also the issue that Seminyak attracts young, attractive people who want to see people like them and be seen in return.
You’re best off wearing smart-casual if you go out at night. Though there’s no need to pack your dress shoes or heels, nearly everyone wears sandals or sneakers in Bali even in the poshest places.
It also can’t hurt to take a light jacket or jumper out at night, particularly in the wet season. It never gets freezing cold in Bali but once you get used to long, hot days, you may find it chillier than you expect at night.
How Much Is A Night Out In Seminyak?
That really is down to you. A beer from a supermarket is going to cost about 60,000 IDR, a beer from the top night clubs in Seminyak might set you back 200,000 IDR.
Cocktails start at around 120-150,000 IDR and work their way up from there. Happy hours can provide much better value than ordinary drinking times.
The good news is that most places don’t charge an entrance fee (if they do, you usually get a free drink in return) and unless you want to sit in a VIP area, you probably won’t be required to make a minimum spend target, either.
How To Stay Safe On A Night Out In Seminyak?
Seminyak is a very safe area, generally, but as with all tourist spots in Bali, there is some petty crime.
Our top tips would be:
-
Don’t walk home alone at night – get a taxi, this is doubly so for the ladies but even guys get into fights at closing time
-
Don’t bring all your valuables, cash, passports, etc. with you – if you do lose something or have it stolen, you can limit your losses by not bringing everything you own with you
-
Keep wallets and phones out of your back pockets – it’s much easier to pick a back pocket
-
Don’t hold things out while on a scooter – it’s easy to snatch things from your hands
-
Don’t leave your bag/phone/wallet on a table and walk away – this will dramatically increase the odds of crimes of opportunity
Which Area Has The Best Nightlife In Bali?
In 2023 as we go to press? Canggu has the best nightlife in Bali. With Kuta, Legian and Seminyak nightlife all being good and varied too.
Canggu is home to FINNS Beach Club which is the world’s best beach club. If you enjoy upscale beach clubs, then you must visit our beach club when you visit Bali. It’s one of the most original beach clubs in all of Bali.
