The tropical island of Bali is a perfect honeymoon destination with beautiful beaches, unique Balinese culture, delicious food, and tons of activities for couples.
It is also the best value-for-money romantic getaway in Southeast Asia. With such a wide diversity of landscapes, cultural experiences, luxury hotels, and private villas, a few nights here won’t break the bank but will create many memories (and amazing photos!).
After scouting the island, we’ve prepared the Ultimate Bali honeymoon guide for all newlyweds excited to get on the plane to visit Bali.
Why Bali Is A Popular Honeymoon Destination?
Bali offers a unique combination of the warm Indian Ocean stretching from white and black-sand beaches to the horizon highlighted by beautiful sunsets, absolutely amazing local culture, lush rainforest, and endless rice fields, with amazing nightlife and world-class honeymoon resorts.
It has become so popular because you can’t find anything quite like this anywhere in the world with the same budget.
When Should I Honeymoon in Bali?
Your Bali honeymoon will be a success at any time of the year – it is a land of endless summer with just a few months of tropical rains from November to April.
No matter when you come you will be able to visit different areas in Bali: from Central Bali to North Bali. If you’re planning a romantic honeymoon in one of the smaller islands next to Bali, then it is best to come during the dry season from April to November to avoid choppy ocean waters and have a safe boat ride between the islands.
10 to 14 days will be enough to explore this tropical island and enjoy its pristine beaches.
Bali Honeymoon Itinerary For 10-14 Days
Start your trip in Ubud, tucked away amidst jungles. A 2-3 day stay will allow you to enjoy rice terraces, waterfalls, walks, visit museums, Ubud Monkey Forest, and enjoy a dinner at Aperitif. If you’re interested you would be able to try yoga or traditional Balinese healing methods.
Take 2-3 days to explore North Bali: watch dolphins in the wild, visit the National Park to meet unique monkeys and deer, snorkel, trek to Munduk waterfalls or even play golf at Handara resort after you visit Ulun Danu Beratan Temple.
Then head to Canggu for 1 day to spend it by the beach at FINNS where everything will be taken care of, from food to entertainment. Visit Tanah Lot temple in West Bali in the morning, optionally, before relaxing at the beach club.
Insider note: Seminyak is very close to Canggu and offers quite the same vibe…sometimes a bit too crowded and a bit outdated so there is really no need to stay in both areas. We really love Canggu and believe it has more modern places and a younger to mid-age crowd from all over the world.
Spend the next 2-3 days in Uluwatu: enjoy the stunning beaches, visit the Uluwatu temple and witness traditional Kecak dance performance, chill at the clifftop wellness centre Istana, and dine at The Cave.
After that, we would recommend a short boat ride to Nusa Lembongan – a tiny island right next to Bali with white-sand beaches, oceanfront resorts, surfing and diving. A 2 days here will be enough.
After you return to Bali you can either spend one more night in Uluwatu or Nusa Dua before flying back home.
Romantic Things To Add To Your Bali Honeymoon
The best honeymoon itinerary will be a combination of beaches, nature, adventure and pampering. Explore the island, but don’t forget to just relax and enjoy the time with your partner.
FINNS Beach Club
FINNS Beach Club – world’s best beach club and the epicentre of fun and nightlife in Canggu.
You can easily spend a whole day, enjoying delicious international cuisine and local delights coming out of multiple kitchens, relaxing by or in the pool, enjoying the sunset, and later in the evening dancing together following the hits of local and international DJs.
Floating Breakfast
Floating breakfast in your own private pool with a spread of seasonal fruit, delicious food, and warming sun in the sky – what could be more romantic and magical?
The service is often available in luxe hotels and is definitely worth it. Hotels like Hanging Gardens include this romantic breakfast option in their honeymoon packages.
Couples Spa Treatments
Traditional Balinese massage in a private couple room, body treatments, rose petal bath and a glass of bubbles just for you to enjoy each other.
Some spas offer interactive treatments for couples and truly unique healing programs.

Visit The Balinese Temples
Ancient Balinese temples like Ulun Danu Beratan, Uluwatu Temple, Tanah Lot, and Besakih Temple are some of the most important and gorgeous temples on the island showcasing traditional Balinese architecture and carrying centuries-old traditions and rituals.
You should also participate in one special holy water purification ritual – melukat, often performed at Tirta Empul Temple.
Day Trip To East Bali
Some of the best photos from your Bali honeymoon will be underwater pictures of you two and the abundant marine life you will get a chance to explore.
The best snorkelling and scuba diving is around Amed, in East Bali, and around Nusa Penida island where you can see and swim with huge manta rays in the wild.
Day Trips To Waterfalls
Another idea for exploring nature and a photo shoot is to visit some hidden gems around the islands: recently discovered or all-time favourite waterfalls with a stunning backdrop and natural pools at the bottom.
Gorgeous waterfalls for honeymoon photos and memories: Aan Secret Waterfall, Munduk Waterfall, Aling-Aling, Sekumpul, Tukad Cepung, and Tegenungan Waterfall.
Sunrise Hike Mt Batur
If you are both adventurous and love nature and hiking, you should definitely book a local tour guide to take you up one of the Bali volcanoes to have breakfast with the most beautiful sunrise viewpoint the island has!
The trek is beginner-friendly and is a huge hit among tourists and expats. Some people do the hike every year and still can’t get enough of the beauty.
Bali Honeymoon Adventures
Love adrenaline? You will be amazed at how many adventures Bali has for you!
From white water rafting, surfing, kayaking, and canyoning to scuba diving, water sports, zipline, and parasliding.
For nature lovers – from treks to waterfalls and hikes up the volcanoes to visits to the National Park to spot wildlife.
And don’t forget private helicopter tours, hot air balloon rides, and cruises across Indonesia on a real old-style sailing ship!
Which Part of Bali is Best for Honeymooning In Bali?
An area with stunning beaches like Nusa Dua, Nusa or Gili Islands, or Uluwatu would be ideal for a honeymoon in Bali.
Of course, it will come down to what would you like to do and what is your travel style. Here are a few options for couples.
Nusa Dua
A beachfront area in the Southeast part of Bali with the most 5-star hotels and luxury resorts concentrated in one spot.
The resorts usually are right on the beach and offer almost an all-exclusive service with activities, multiple dining options, spa treatments, and, of course, private pools.
The area itself though doesn’t offer much for exploration, so if you want to see real Bali, you will need to book a day trip.
Uluwatu
If you and/or your partner are interested in spirituality, yoga, or meditation, are fans of vegan food, and have ever watched Eat Pray Love, you have to stay in Ubud, even if just for a few days. It will be a real treat for anyone into arts and crafts too.
Here you can explore the terraced rice fields of Teggalalang, take some stunning photos at Ubud Bali Swing, indulge in amazing food, try yoga and spoil each other with some nice spa treatments.
There are also lots of walking trails, waterfalls, and hidden natural gems around Ubud, that you will definitely like. Plus, if you’re not into partying, Ubud has a more peaceful character.
Canggu
If you want to party and love staying active and shopping, visit Canggu. It is home to Bali’s best beach club – FINNS, as well as the ideal spot to try surfing and visit premium gyms and social clubs with recovery and biohacking zones.
You won’t have as much privacy here, so maybe plan to stay just a few days to jazz things up.
Gili Islands
There are three Gili islands: Gili Air, Gili Trawangan, and Gili Meno, all located super close to each other but with a completely different personality.
For meeting people, more Western-style cafes, and more choices of accommodation and snorkel/diving activities – choose Gili Trawangan.
If you want to enjoy your time just the two of you on a white sand beach, Gili Air or Meno would be perfect.
Nusa Islands
Three Nusa islands: Nusa Lembongan, Nusa Ceningan, and Nusa Penida are the closest vacation islands to Bali.
Nusa Lembongan is more vibrant and has stunning beaches, great surf, and amazing accommodations and ocean views. If you want something special for your Bali honeymoon itinerary, why not sail away?
Venture Beyond Bali
A honeymoon is a one-in-a-lifetime occasion and if you want to have a truly unforgettable honeymoon, you can explore what the other 17,000 islands of Indonesia have to offer. Some of the best honeymoon destinations could be:
Labuan Bajo and Komodo Island cruises
Raja Ampat or Flores for some of the world’s best diving
East Java – climbing Mt Ijen
Borneo for a river cruise to see wild orangutans, and
Sumba for untouched beaches and surfing
