Cebure Waterfall: Beauty In The Middle Of Nowhere

Thinking of getting away from the beach and seeing some more of this beautiful island? Why not consider a trip to Cebure Waterfall?

It’s a hidden gem out in the rice fields and it’s easily accessible from most parts of Bali even though, it’s not on most tourist trails and thus, you can have it all to yourself.

Here’s what you need to know to plan your visit to this charming place.

How To Get To Cebure Waterfall?

Asian businessman driving car and smile, car insurance concept

As this place is quite off the beaten track here on the island, the best way to get there is going to be to hire a private driver.

The good news is that this isn’t expensive and you can easily get someone to drive you around for 8 hours (including car, driver and fuel) for around 500,00 IDR ($35 USD or $50 AUD).

They will be happy to bring you to other places as part of your trip, which will ensure you get great value for money out of the day.

This waterfall is about 15-20 minutes walk from the car park and it’s worth noting that it’s quite a challenging climb down and not as accessible as it might be with some of the stairs being slippery and others being broken.

You must take your time when navigating the route if you want to reach this beautiful spot in one piece – if it’s your first trip to a waterfall, then, we’d recommend being even more cautious, you don’t want an accident out here in the middle of the rice fields, it’s a long way from Ubud and a hospital.

If you’re bringing children with you, then make sure to keep a close eye on them and check they are safe throughout the descent.

When Is The Best Time To Visit Cebure Waterfall?

The best time to visit any of the waterfalls in Bali is at the end of the wet season when the water flow is at its heavies and you get the most impressive falls.

However, there’s no bad time to visit Air Terjun Cebure and you will find that it’s still flowing even in the dry season, and while it might not be quite as impressive the trip from the car park to the waterfall itself will be easier as it should be less slippery.

There’s no “best time of day” to visit this beautiful spot as, for now at least, it’s simply not busy enough to get crowded.

If it’s your first trip to a waterfall, it’s likely to be one of the most idyllic trips that you experience – a beautiful adventure.

If you feel you want to contribute – 10-15,000 IDR per person is more than enough, there’s no need to hand over a lot more.

What To Expect At Cebure Waterfall

This is a beautiful spot among the rice fields of the countryside and though the walk is challenging, it’s worth the effort to visit the waterfall here.

It’s very different from the usual beach spots on the island and the spectacular view of the waterfall, alone, is worth the effort of getting here.

You are unlikely to encounter any tourists, only locals, at this place as it’s not on the main tourist track at all.

There is a small pool at the base of this waterfall where you can go swimming and enjoy the clean blue water to your heart’s content.

Given how difficult it is to get to this waterfall, you’re not likely to be sharing the spot with anyone while you’re there.

You must start heading back at sunset, however, as you need enough light to get back up the nearby cliff to the car park. This is not a place that you want to spend the night.

There is also a fountain here that is used by the locals as part of purification rituals and while it’s fine to post pictures of what goes on a this place, you should remember to be respectful when taking any shots, etc.
