Sanur Harbour or Sanur Port or Pelabuhan Sanur is the busiest port in Bali.
Our guide will help you understand what services they offer, what’s in the area around the port and offer other useful travel tips whn you use this facility.
Where Is Sanur Harbour?
Sanur Harbor is on Sanur Beach in the town of Sanur. Sanur is just outside of Denpasar City on the East Coast in Southern Bali.
How To Get To Sanur Harbour?
If you’re leaving Bali, you will probably want to take a Grab or a Gojek ride to Sanur from wherever you have been staying.
This will usually work out as your cheapest means of travel from most of the island.
When Is The Best Time To Go To Sanur Port?
The harbor is open from early morning to the late afternoon and all services depart before 5 p.m.
As it’s not a place for sightseeing, there’s only value in being at the harbor when it’s open.
What To Expect At Sanur Port?
Sanur is a busy port with two main types of service fast boat and ferry services to Nusa Penida (you can change in Nusa Penida for Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan), the Gili Islands and Lombok.
Thus Sanur is the gateway to to the islands off the coast of Bali.
Fast Boat Services
Tourists will generally prefer to follow their chosen route on a fast cruise on a fast boat. These services are only fractionally more expensive than ferries but the trips are (as the name suggests) quite a lot faster.
However, if you have a car or a scooter to transport from the dock, you can’t use a fast boat, your ticket only allows for a small amount of luggage per person and vehicles cannot be loaded on fast boats.
Ferry Services
Ferry services aren’t as frequent as fast boat services and a ferry will normally take quite a bit longer to reach your destination.
However, you can get a vehicle on to a ferry (which you can’t on a fast cruise) and if the seas are rough, you may find you feel safer on a ferry than a fast boat.
Taxi Mafia/Taxi Service At Sanur Harbour
We talk in-depth about the taxi mafia here in Bali elsewhere on the site. However, you should be aware that Sanur Harbour is a no-go zone for Grab and Gojek drivers and you will need to walk out of the area to use these apps.
We’d recommend heading down the street to the Dunkin Donuts (it’s about 600-700 meters away, a 5-minute walk) and getting one from there.
This will ensure that your taxi service doesn’t get into any trouble with the local drivers.
