The 20 Best Restaurants In Kuta: Something For Everyone
Bene Italian Cuisine at Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort:
If you’re craving great Italian food incorporating fresh seafood dishes from the local catch of the day or a romantic dinner, then you might want to consider Bene at the Sheraton.
Guests staying at the hotel can pretty much jump out of the swimming pool and then plop down in the comfortable atmosphere of this great restaurant.
It’s an excellent place to watch the sunset and the ice-cold beers are reasonably priced.
Try the squid ink risotto, which really stands out and it’s the sort of dining experience that Bali can really offer a local boost to.
If you are celebrating a special occasion, feel free to let them know in advance. The staff will be happy to arrange a birthday cake or something similar.

The Waves All Day at The Kuta Beach Heritage Hotel
The Waves is a nice contemporary cooking all-day-long restaurant located inside the hotel that it belongs to. They offer excellent food, though it’s not the biggest menu and private gatherings are welcome here.
The a la carte menu has a strong focus on Western dishes and it’s one of the best restaurants in town if you want a big, hearty Western breakfast or some French toast.
There is a pleasant view over Kuta Beach and the ship-themed decorations make this restaurant feel pleasantly nautical.
We were impressed by the drinks menu, which must be one of the most complete offerings anywhere in Bali.

Riva Bar & Restaurant at The Kuta Beach Heritage Hotel
If you want a great steak washed down with some jolly, well-made cocktails, this could be your best option in Kuta.
We like that they have a solid wine list here too and the staff were knowledgeable enough to help choose a wine pairing with each dish.
It’s very reasonably priced, given the location near Kuta Beach and we really like the view from this restaurant.
The only downside is that the service can be very relaxed, indeed, and you want to eat here in a timely manner, but who hurries at a beach hotel restaurant anyway?

Hard Rock Cafe, Bali At The Hard Rock Hotel Bali
If you’re staying in the Hard Rock Hotel, it’s probably because you already think that Hard Rock Cafe is one of the best restaurants in Kuta.
If not, we can assure you that their renowned restaurant in a convenient location is tasty enough and the live music on offer is some of the best on the island.
Their menu features a lot of classic American pub grub and we find the pork ribs are particularly tasty.
The lively atmosphere inside makes sure that everyone has a good time and this can be a great place to bring a young family early in the evening.
As with all Hard Rock properties, there’s plenty of music-themed memorabilia on display too.

Rosso Vivo Dine & Lounge At The Kuta Seaview Hotel
As you might expect, you can get a good view of Kuta Beach at this busy and boisterous restaurant.
This is the place we go when we have friends in town and intend to make a bit of a night of things.
The music can get a bit loud at points, but that’s OK. Everyone’s having a great time and enjoying the delicious food.
We love their pizzas, but our friends won’t stop raving about the tuna tartare and fresh fish soups here.
One thing we’re sure of is no one will leave hungry as the portions are a really good size.

Made’s Warung Kuta
If you want an awesome Indonesian fried rice or nasi goreng, then you want to visit Made’s Warung in Kuta, Bali.
Made’s is a local institution and you will find their grub to be both authentic and super flavourful.
They offer plenty of traditional dishes and while you won’t find luxuries like charcoal-grilled king prawns on the menu, there are plenty of other options to choose from.
The food here is quite inexpensive, considering the quality of the dining experience and we love the local rustic decor too.

Kuta Social Club
This rooftop bar has a minimum spend per person of 100,000 IDR, but that includes access to the pool and space to watch the sunset over the beach. That’s a very fair deal for Kuta, Bali.
Try the Frutti Di Mare Pizza at Kuta Social Club, which uses local fresh catch to create a sweet and yummy dish with a very umami overtone.
Then go with the lobster rolls, which elevate the lobster with their wasabi mayo and toasted sesame seeds.
Portions are big, verging on the huge and we wonder if you’ll regret a visit to the Kuta Social Club for a feed.

Warung Laota: The Best Chinese Restaurant
This warung has a great selection of Chinese food at reasonable prices and has become so popular that there are now two other branches on the island.
The Kuta branch has the best congee that we’ve ever tasted and has recently been experimenting with some awesome dim sum.
Vegetarians and vegans will enjoy the mixed local sauteed veggies, which are tasty and crisp.
Our personal favourite is the salted egg shrimp, which we found to rival any dish from the great restaurants of Bali.
We like to visit Warung Laota at Chinese New Year even though they don’t usually have a special menu, because the food is just so good.

Poppies Restaurant Kuta
The dining experience at Poppies is fantastic and we love this kind of blend of Indonesian classics and Western contemporary food.
Please don’t jump off the bridge into the stream below, though, as there’s a very shallow stone bed beneath the enticing waters. You will hurt yourself.
Instead, cool down with some icy cold beers and get stuck into the “table dinner” which is an Indonesian sharing plate stuffed with a huge number of dishes.
The gado gado here is a huge hit with our vegetarian friends too.

The Aburi Sushi Bali
This upscale and very contemporary Japanese restaurant in Kuta, Bali, is one of the best places to eat great sushi on the island.
They are fairly large rolls and the rice is always fresh and has a slight crisp to it to really complement the fish.
We can also recommend their delicious truffle ramen, which we thought was one of the best things that we’ve ever eaten.

Warung Makan Nikmat
This restaurant specializes in halal food, which is much rarer in Bali than you might expect in Indonesia.
They are usually completely sold out by around 3 p.m., so make sure to get there early if you want a full range of choices from the menu.
The local buskers are serenading one thing you’re sure to enjoy here as you eat. Don’t worry, you won’t be hassled to tip them.

Papa’s Beach Cafe
The portions at Papa’s are almost as big as two dishes at any other restaurant in Bali. We recommend going easy and then going back for more if you can fit it in.
This is a very family-friendly place and the kids seem to love the bright environment and classic dishes like lasagne and meatballs.
Our personal favourite is the spicy lamb sausage, which you can have as a starter or side to your main event!

Gabah Restaurant & Bar
In one of the most prime locations in Kuta, Bali, you will find the GFabah Restaurant and Bar.
You don’t need a reservation, but this place can get quite busy and be warned, it can also be a little pricey because of its excellent location.
Try the beef rendang, though and you’ll immediately know that it’s worth the extra money. The food here is really high-quality and we can’t stop going back to Gabah.

Kori Restaurant & Bar
The atmosphere in Kori is wonderful and you can relax and really enjoy the food away from the hustle and bustle of Kuta’s crowds.
The menu features some of the best frozen cocktails that we’ve ever had and we’d go just for those, to be fair.
However, the food is truly excellent and you will find it to be both Instagram-worthy and incredibly clean!

Golden Lotus At Bali Dynasty
There’s a little bit of a price premium on this excellent Chinese restaurant, but that’s pretty normal for Chinese food in Southeast Asia.
They have a lovely dim sum buffet where you can get stuck into all the greatest hits of the Cantonese scene for a fixed price.
But we prefer to order from their a la carte menu and mix things up a little.
The whole sesame chicken is an absolutely amazing thing to behold and so juicy and tender that you’ll be left wanting more, even if you’re completely stuffed and can’t eat another bite!
Wash it down with a cold Bintang and you’ll be very happy, indeed.

Spice Mantraa Kuta
Spice Mantraa is one of our favourite Indian food joints in Bali. It has a brilliant range of authentic dishes as well as both vegan and vegetarian menus.
The staff is famed for being helpful and super attentive. If you have food allergies, they can help you avoid any dining minefields with ease.
We really enjoyed their Tandoori Chicken and thought that their biryani was one of the tastiest we’ve ever had.
You have to visit Spice Mantraa when in Kuta, it’s just so good.

Crumb & Coaster
Crumb & Coaster is almost too hip for Kuta, but as with their other branches, it’s always packed out, so it’s clearly just right for people here.
They have a great menu and it includes plenty of vegetarian options too. The Guilty Fries are a family favourite and the Croissant Benedict is in a class of its own!
One thing that’s really worth trying at Crumb & Coaster is their extensive selection of local fruit juices. In fact, we can recommend taking some home too!

Dijon Cafe
This lovely cafe also has an onsite homemade grocery store and if you enjoy your lunch here, we can almost guarantee that you’ll be opting to take some food home with you.
A nice touch is that they hand you a cold towel as soon as you enter the dining room and it leaves you instantly refreshed.
Try their chicken teriyaki or their peri-peri chicken and then finish up with their delicious carrot cake!

Merah Putih
If you want somewhere that oozes sophistication and class and you’re prepared to pay for it, do check out Merah Putih.
We had a stunning Balinese Beef Shank Steamed Bun and a perfectly chargrilled Angus Tenderloin and couldn’t have been happier.
Just make sure to leave room for one of their stunning desserts, which are a real treat!
