If you’re in Seminyak for a holiday, you’re probably wondering, which gyms in Bali are going to be local enough to help you reach your fitness goals?

Well, the good news for gym enthusiasts in Seminyak is that there are plenty of options for you to consider, including the 21 best gyms and fitness studios and 10 awesome hotels with gyms too!

So, if you want to ensure your fitness in Seminyak, you won’t have any problems finding an open gym to work out in.

The 21 Best Gyms & Fitness Studios In Seminyak

The first part of our best gyms list will focus on standard fitness centres with an open gym or open classes where you can work out. After that, we’ll take a look at the options in the highly-rated hotels here in Seminyak.

To ensure completeness here, we’ve pushed the definition of “gym” to include all locations where you can get a workout and we’ve also included some other gyms that are just outside of Seminyak but might be convenient for you to get to, depending on where you are staying.

Bali Fitness Seminyak

Boasting the first cycle studio in Seminyak, this Seminyak gym is one of the best operations in the area with a ton of facilities to choose from.

The Bali Fitness workout floor includes all the usual weights as well as STARTRAC equipment including steppers, bikes, etc.

The membership options at Bali Fitness tend to include access to their group classes and they say that this is the heart of their offering.

Their members’ only real complaint is that it closes a little early in the evenings for night owls.

CrossFit Seminyak

CrossFit is, of course, a program of exercise that’s tailored to deliver a complete body workout.

It incorporates gym work, weights, core training and cardio to help you get in total shape.

That means if you join this gym, you’re signing up to be a part of that approach to exercise and their guided programs to help you get better at CrossFit. They are an official CrossFit affiliate gym.

ATHLEAN

This is a small local gym but because of the location, it’s still quite pricey compared to the usual Balinese gym in other areas.

It doesn’t have a huge range of equipment and if you’re into powerlifting or competitive lifting of any kind, it’s probably not for you.

However, if you want a nice place to train with really helpful staff that know their stuff, this is a great choice.

Louis & Friends Fitness Centre

This is a medium-sized Seminyak gym and it’s one of the most established gyms in the area, which means that the equipment is a little older than at some other places in the area.

However, it’s all well maintained and you don’t need to worry about a machine breaking on a regular basis.

If you’re looking for a homie-style gym with a no-nonsense approach to your daily workout, it’s definitely worth a look.

Jungle Flow Fitness Centre

Jungle Flow is “the only Animal Flow certified centric fitness centre in Indonesia” which means it focuses on animal-style movement classes.

It’s only open 6 days a week, Sundays are a day off, and we’d suggest that this is going to be for a very specific audience.

Each workout is 60-90 minutes long and is delivered on a unisex basis, if that sounds good, check them out.

Daily Gym Bali

Daily Gym is a decent no-frills gym with plenty of usable equipment to carry out cardio and weights programs.

However, be warned, there’s no air-conditioning in the gym and it can get quite hot under the fans in the summer.

It’s worth noting that this means their rates are among the lowest in the area though and you can get a session pass for as little as 100,000 IDR.

Bali Asri Gym @ Bali Asri Villas

This is the cheapest gym in Seminyak and unlike the other hotel gyms, it advertises itself as open to the public at any time.

Unfortunately, our experience there wasn’t great, the equipment is old and not very well-maintained.

If you need a workout on the tightest budget possible, then you might be happy at the Bali Asri, otherwise, it’s worth splashing out a bit more for your gym, in our opinion.

Hammerhead Gym

This is a solid mid-range gym with a large range of equipment to choose from and it’s generally well-maintained too.

They have air-conditioning which makes a workout here a pleasant part of your day without too much sweat (some sweat in a gym is practically obligatory, mind you).

If you want to do some serious strength training and don’t need many frills, Hammerhead Gym is a good option for your Seminyak gym.

MOXX EMS

This gym claims the “fastest approach to fitness on Earth”, which may have warning bells ringing for some but they use an electrical stimulation technology (EMS) to improve the results of your workouts.

You have to follow their tailored workout regime and they provide nutritional advice too.

As to whether or not it delivers the results it claims? We can’t speak to that but it’s affordable enough for you to find out for yourself.

FIT ANYWHERE

This is an unusual service where the gym comes to you and in essence, it offers mobile personal training sessions at a location of your choosing.

They are based out of Seminyak, but there’s no Seminyak gym location for this service, you need to find some space to conduct a class in.

We haven’t tried their sessions personally, but we spoke to a recent user who was very impressed by the individual attention they got.

And for their recommendations to other services to improve their wellness too.

F45 Training Seminyak

This is a pleasant well-lit studio with an emphasis on short-term membership options for people passing through Seminyak.

We thought it was one of the best gyms in Seminyak for social interaction when we went to check it out.

And while it’s not the biggest gym in the area, we found that there was always plenty of space in their classes and you don’t feel cramped.

Soham Wellness Centre

This wellness centre offers a decently equipped gym with a reasonable range of machines (though they are not always well-maintained).

The onsite swimming pool is nice and is a half Olympic-size, so swimmers may enjoy this place more than weightlifters. However, don’t be tempted to blow your workout gains by indulging at the poolside bar…

Their membership options include access to the sauna, ice bath, steam room and jacuzzi which is a nice touch.

Studio Pilates Bali: The Art Of Body

Not everybody wants to turn up and wrestle with a huge range of machines and weights, some people want a simpler workout.

Studio Pilates is the ideal place for those people, if you want pilates classes with well-defined objectives and experienced international trainers then this is the place to go.

Fitness enthusiasts who are looking for a training centre that offers a break from the norm may find that this is a very enjoyable place to work out.

Anika Gym

This is a great gym with a value-for-money monthly pass, and it’s ideal for circuit training because of the room that they leave between equipment.

However, there isn’t much in the way of ventilation and absolutely no AC and that’s going to be too much for some, it was too much for us – fans aren’t good enough for a long workout.

The healthy cafe downstairs offers some lovely meals and provides the perfect fuel stop before you start your day.

The Bar

As you might expect, the focus at The Bar is strength training and they will work with you to achieve your fitness objectives.

It’s a good place if you’re seeking to slim down or to bulk up and they have all the equipment you need to get your strength under control including squat racks.

They say that “no one should be afraid to lift because they don’t know how” and their staff will ensure your fitness experience here is safe and valuable.

The Flash Gym Bali

This is a very small gym and it’s not fully equipped with all the latest gear but it has plenty of free weights and gym machines and it’s very cheap.

Boxers will enjoy the area with plenty of punching bags. There are quite a few Muay Thai fighters making use of this gym too.

There are no spa treatments or health club to join at this gym but they do offer personal trainers and group training as well as a range of health supplements to boost your fitness results.

Pondok Yoga Bali

This yoga studio offers decent value yoga classes and while there’s no standard fitness room, this training centre can help you work on flexibility and cardio without any problem.

There are so many classes to choose from, however, that it can feel a bit confusing and it’s best to wait until the time the gym opens and then go and see somebody here to decipher it all, unless you have a lot of previous yoga experience.

We tried the aerial yoga class here and it was a very unique experience.

Yoga 108

This is another excellent yoga studio in Seminyak and they can offer classes for everybody from the absolute beginner to the most experienced practitioners.

We wouldn’t swap this for Bali MMA lessons, mind you, but we think that yoga can be very complementary for those pursuing other fitness programs in Seminyak.

Avenue Fitness

OK, we’re moving a little bit outside of Seminyak now but Avenue Fitness isn’t far away in neighbouring Canggu.

It’s a studio class-based gym that offers a variety of workouts from Zumba to Muay Thai.

However, on our visit, a lot of the equipment at Avenue Fitness needed some maintenance work carrying out.

Victory Fitness

Victory Fitness is a short drive from Seminyak and Canggu and it’s quite a basic place with 2 floors of machines.

Recent users have told us that a lot of the machines are broken at Victory Fitness but we feel that their low membership cost reflects that.

There’s no AC at this functional training centre and you are guaranteed to come out hot and sweaty after a session here.

Body Factory Bali

This is a decent gym, also across the border into Canggu, and generally speaking it offers a fair range of machines and an air-conditioned environment to work out in.

They have an onsite cafe that delivers pleasant food but we were a bit disappointed by the portion sizes on our visit.

FINNS Recreation Club

finns fitness centre best gym in bali

The FINNS brand is best associated with the beach club in Canggu but the Recreation Club is rapidly becoming equally well-known.

Sure, it’s a short drive from Seminyak but it’s the best-equipped gym in this part of Bali (or, in fact, anywhere on the island) and it has everything you could possibly need from Muay Thai lessons to personal trainers who can help you meet every fitness goal.

There’s an excellent onsite cafe in the form of Bistro C and there are several other cool facilities at FINNS including Strike, Bounce and their Junior Sports Academy.

Are Hotel Gyms In Bali Only For Hotel Guests?

It very much depends on the hotel. Most 5-star hotels here in Bali have a fitness studio but whether they are open to outsiders is down to each hotel’s management.

If they are open to non-guests then you will find that they tend to have a fully equipped gym but the gym equipment may not always be well-serviced and you might be better off going to somewhere that’s more “just a gym”.

However, there’s no doubt that the hotel gyms are very pleasant places to work out and if you’re staying in a top-rated hotel, the gym is usually included in your room rate, so why would you want to look elsewhere?

The day rate for these gyms tends to be higher than most other gyms in Bali but you can sometimes obtain a one-day guest pass either for a low cost or even free to test out the facilities.

Many of the hotel gyms also included access to the swimming pool and some even provide discounts and other perks within the hotel to make their offerings feel better value for money.

FAQs

Does Bali Have Gyms? Does Bali Have Good Gyms?

Yes! In fact, we may have reached the point in Bali where there’s a fitness centre or gym on nearly every street corner! This is probably due to the large number of surfers who come to the beaches here.

You can find everything from a cheap CrossFit gym or martial arts centre to the best gyms with world-class gym equipment and excellent selections of free weights, etc. so there’s always something that will suit your fitness needs and budget.

Yoga classes are also very popular and many of the best gyms offer yoga programs and if you go to Ubud, you’ll find a yoga studio almost everywhere you look.

This is a trend that we are very enthusiastic about as we feel that it’s too easy to come to Bali, eat, drink and make merry while neglecting your health.

Whether you’re here for two weeks or as an expat, it can really pay to sign up with a Bali fitness centre and work out, at least, as often as you party here.

What’s The Best Fitness Centre In Bali?

We’re not being immodest but we think that FINNS Recreation Club which is in Canggu and very close to Seminyak is the best Bali fitness studio and gym.

That’s because of the huge investment we’ve made to make it that way. You’ll find that our equipment is all well-maintained and just what gym enthusiasts expect from a complete weights room (including free weights) to tennis courts.

You can train in martial arts, enjoy yoga classes, and much more as part of your gym membership and we can arrange personal training sessions to help you meet your fitness goals too.

Most of all, we have a host of additional facilities that go beyond functional fitness to help you have fun as a family looking to stay fit and healthy.

This includes our wonderful Junior Sports Academy (JSA), Strike Ten Pin Bowling Alley, and Bounce for the best trampolining experience in Bali.

We’ve recently teamed up with one of Australia’s biggest brands to offer lessons to prepare you for the boxing ring and we’re always seeking to up our game and delight our members even more.

So, we think FINNS Recreation Club is the best gym among the best gyms in Bali but you don’t have to take our word for it, you can come down and access the facilities and see for yourself.

How Much Does It Cost To Join The Gym In Bali?

It very much depends on what kind of training centre you’re looking for and what basis you want to use the fitness facilities on.

However, it’s probably fair to say that you can get a 1-day pass for most gyms (that you would consider as a daily gym) for around 250,000 IDR and that gives you access to almost everything that fitness enthusiasts would expect (such as the weight lifting equipment and swimming pool).

Monthly memberships tend to work out much better value and you can easily find an amazing gym for around 1,500,000-2,000,000 IDR a month.

As we go to press that’s about $4.50 to $6 AUD a day and the best gyms in Bali are every bit as well equipped as a gym back home in Australia.

Of course, if you want personal training sessions or very specific facilities or coaching, you may need to pay for those on top of a membership fee.

Some long-term memberships go beyond a monthly membership and might offer additional discounts if you pay for a year.

We would strongly recommend that your Seminyak gym ticks all the boxes for you before you shell out for a long-term deal.

How To Book A Holiday In Seminyak?

We always recommend that you book your holiday in Bali through the wonderful people at the Bali Res Centre.

That’s a locally owned and operated travel service that can ensure you get exactly what you need from your holiday in Bali from high-intensity workouts to Muay Thai group classes and much more.

Their prices are highly competitive thanks to their relationships here on the island and they can help you avoid areas with heavy construction, etc. thanks to their local knowledge too.

Best of all, supporting the Bali Res Centre means supporting the Balinese economy and not some faceless multinational corporation.

Final Thoughts On Going To The Gym, Seminyak

Whatever kind of workout you want in Bali, there’s a Seminyak gym for you.

Functional training, strength training, group training, a cycle studio, booty classes, etc. you name it, it’s available in Seminyak.

Given that most people come to Bali to destress, it makes sense to use the best gyms in Seminyak on your holiday to keep your fitness level and feel great!

We hope to see you at FINNS Recreation Club and then at FINNS Beach Club, hosting the best pool parties in the world, to unwind some more after you’ve finished your daily workout!
