How To Get To Tibu Sampi Waterfall?
If you visit Timbu Sampi Waterfall, you will need your own transport or to hire a private car and driver for the day.
This isn’t expensive, a car, driver, and gas for 8 hours will set you back about 500,000 IDR (that’s around $35 USD or $50 AUD) and they will take you around as many sites as you can access in a day.
The reason for this approach to transport is that there’s no availability of Grab and Gojek drivers in this area.
You might get a driver to take you, but you would need to check to see if they could wait for you to ensure that you don’t spend your whole holiday in Bali stuck by an obscure river trying to get a taxi home. They can also ensure that you see more of the best waterfalls in Bali in the same day.
Is There A Lot Of Forest Trekking At This Waterfall?
No, but the parking area is not accessible by car. So, if you want to visit Tibu Sampi Waterfall without being on a motorbike, you will need to walk down a dirt track for about 10 minutes before you arrive.
When Is The Best Time To Visit Tibu Sampi Waterfall?
We’d always recommend that you visit Tibu Sampi Waterfall at the end of the rainy season. In fact, this is true for all waterfalls in Bali.
If you want to see the most dramatic display of water from a river crashing off cliffs then it’s best to go when the river is at its fullest.
However, this place doesn’t dry up in the dry season, though the water level is less impressive.
It doesn’t matter what time of day you go to Tibu Sampi Waterfall though as this isn’t a busy place and there will be no crowds at any time of day.
However, if you want to get the best photographs, you might want to go earlier in the day when the golden hour light starts to light up Tibu Sampi Waterfall.
Is There An Entrance Fee At Tibu Sampi Waterfall?
No, there is no entrance fee at Iibu Sampi Waterfall. This was quite a surprise to us as this wonderful waterfall among the rice fields has a decent parking area, a nice warung and even some changing rooms and toilets for you to use.
The availability of facilities like this is unusual for places this far off the beaten path and you should support them if you want to continue to enjoy them.
However, we should note that things can change and it’s possible that they will begin to charge for entry to Tibu Sampi Waterfall.
So, we’d recommend that you carry about 20,000 IDR (that’s $1.50 USD or $2 AUD) in small bills when you visit this location. That way you will have no issues trying to find change in the rice fields.
What To Expect At Tibu Sampi Waterfall
It’s not very far from the car park to the waterfall and it’s a lovely walk through stunning rice terraces to get there.
Do watch your footing as the path and steps can get a little slippery when they are wet and there are no emergency services near Tibu Sampi Waterfall, if you get injured there, you will need to get to another part of Bali for treatment.
It’s a very clean spot with almost no plastic pollution and you can swim at Tibu Sampi Waterfall if you bring swimming clothes with you. (As we mentioned earlier this is a chance to enjoy the changing room, though we found the light was broken when we were last at Tibu Sampi Waterfall).
The waterfall itself is a single fall running about 10 meters down the cliff. It’s not the most dramatic fall but it’s very photogenic and would-be influencers will be delighted to know they can visit this location in Bali and practice their photography and videography with almost no chance of disrupting someone else’s fun at Tibu Sampi Waterfall.
