Tanjung Benoa is a peninsula on the southeast coast of Bali, which extends north from Nusa Dua to Benoa village. Tanjung Benoa is a subdistrict of Kuta South District of Badung Regency in Bali. It is famous for its beaches and water sports.

A Brief History of Tanjung Benoa?

In 1546, the beach at Tanjung Benoa was a small harbour where the Chinese and other foreign traders came to exchange goods with local people.

In more modern times, it was a sleepy fishing village. However, this all changed in the 1980s, when luxury hotels started to be built around the beach area.

Thanks to its calm waters, the area started to build a reputation as an excellent place for water sports like banana boat rides, parasailing, and scuba diving, as well as swimming and sunbathing.

It soon became Bali’s premier destination for water sports.

As such, it’s no surprise that the Bali Province government officially established Tanjung Benoa as a Marine Sports Centre. This included a port for international cruise ships called the Benoa Cruise International Terminal.

Though, perhaps, not quite as laid-back as Sanur, Tanjung Benoa is famous for its beach life.

Tanjung Benoa beach has very calm water, though not quite as calm as Sanur, which is why water sports are so popular here.

Thanks to its white sand and relatively calm waves, Tanjung Benoa Beach makes a great vacation destination for families.

You can also relax with friends or family, sunbathe, walk along the beach, go swimming and do other enjoyable activities.

Go on a Glass Bottom Boat Tour

A glass-bottom boat tour is where you can observe the underwater environment from the safety of the boat. The bottom of the boats has glass or other suitable transparent material below the waterline so you can get a stunning view of what’s below.

Unlike looking down from above the sea, your vision isn’t blocked by erratic surface disturbances. It’s like going scuba diving, yet without getting wet. You can stay safe and dry on the boat. This is a great experience for both children and adults alike.

You can see schools of small fish swimming around in the coral reefs, as well as turtles, and other amazing sea creatures. This is why the glass-bottom boat is one of the most fun water sports activities outside of playing in the water.
