The Best Art Galleries In Seminyak

Nyaman Gallery: Contemporary Modern Art

This gallery bills itself as “a pioneer of the international contemporary art gallery in Bali” and that’s about right.

Their name “Nyaman” means “cozy” in Bahasa and the space is bright, open and airy and effectively showcases the art they display.

As to whether it’s to your taste? Well, that depends on how “contemporary you like your art pieces.

Expect brash modernity rubbing shoulders with cynical surrealism and you won’t be disappointed.

We do like that there’s a good blend of local and international talent on display and they’re relying on something other than big overseas names to bring in their clients.

We note that this gallery almost always has offerings in all budget ranges. So, you can take home a souvenir from your trip here without breaking the bank.

The Best Supermarkets For Shopping In Seminyak

Bintang Supermarket: The Easiest Place To Shop

If you need to go supermarket shopping in Seminyak then this is probably the best place to do it. It’s well located near other stores but has enough access to get out easily when you’ve done your shopping.

It was rebuilt and then reopened in mid-2022. The layout is warm and welcoming and everything looks fresh and clean and the aisles are now rather more spacious than they were before.

You can get almost anything you can get in a supermarket at home here including kitchenware, hardware and stationery.

One thing you should know is that you may be asked to stow any bags you have in a locker at the front of the store to keep theft to a minimum. It’s nothing personal, it’s company policy.

Grand Lucky Supermarket: Get Your Cheeses Here

We like Grand Lucky too, mainly because they have an excellent cheese range and more fresh fruit and veg than the other supermarkets seem to carry.

It’s also the most convenient place to shop in Seminyak if you’re coming from the airport and don’t want to endure too much Bali traffic before you head home.

This is a reasonable supermarket but be warned it’s almost impossible to get there or out of there using a car.

There is no real parking, and it’s located next to a busy bar and nightclub complex.

However, if you’re nearby, it can be more convenient than the other supermarkets.

The Best Markets In Seminyak

Seminyak Square Markets: Super Trendy Choices

This is probably the most popular market in the Seminyak area. It consists of a two-storey building with boutique stores on both floors facing the world.

There’s also a nice flea market running through the street outside. It’s only a quick walk from Seminyak Village too.

They also provide free Wi-Fi and a comfortable garden area where you can sit and relax between purchases.

Double Six Street Markets: A Wide Range Of Choice

This place is often called Jalan Arjuna by locals. It’s one of Seminyak’s busiest and most exciting markets. There are some great restaurants nearby too.

The big draw of this market is the top-quality sarong shops and fashion stores it hosts. It’s also near the Double Six Beach, so you can always go and chill out by the waves after you shop.

Flea Market Oberoi: Not As Cheap As You Might Hope

We love flea markets as they have the most enjoyable market feel. This market is a great place to look for beach and summer clothing. However, it’s cheaper than expected for a flea market and haggling is mandatory.

However, it’s worth noting that the products here are always of a consistent quality level and you should always be able to reach an affordable price even if you won’t get as many bargains as you hoped.

And it’s the best Seminyak flea market.

Pasar Badung Market: Denpasar’s Biggest Market

This is a huge market and it’s an old-school market with a very traditional feel. It’s your best source of local souvenirs and handicrafts. Haggling here is expected and good-natured.

The food stalls here offer excellent low-cost eating options.

One great thing about this market is that it’s always open, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The only thing is that it’s so big, you could easily spend a whole day at Pasar Badung.

FAQs

Is There A Market In Seminyak?

There are several markets in Seminyak including Seminyak Square, Double Six, Oberoi Flea Market, and Pasar Badung as listed above.

What Is The Main Shopping Area In Bali?

There is no “main shopping area” as Bali’s too big to have a central point where everyone shops. Seminyak and Ubud are among the most popular places for tourists to shop in, though.

Where Is The Cheapest Place To Shop In Bali?

You really can’t beat the local markets for decent-quality gear on a budget. Just make sure it’s not “too cheap to be true” because that usually comes at the expense of quality and longevity.
