How To Get There?
If you’re hotel is right near the beach, then walking would be your best bet for getting there. Walking south from Canggu Beach, you can cross the waterway on the small bridge, but walking between Neyalan and Berawa is difficult.
If you’re coming from a different area, then there are a few options:
- Taxi Hailing App – A taxi hailing app, such as Grab or Gojek, is one of the most convenient options. The price is reasonable, especially if you’re sharing with friends. Getting one for your way home should be fairly easy, also, given the popular location of Canggu.
- Private Car and Driver – Booking a private driver has several advantages. The driver can wait for you while you’re on the beach, so you don’t have to worry about getting back, and you can safely keep your belongings in the car. Also, if you’re not planning to spend all day at the beach, you could make a day trip of it, planning to visit a few other locations.
- Motorcycle or Scooter Hire – As tempting as it may sound to hire a scooter, we highly recommend against it. It’s unlikely that you’ll be road legal, and the roads in Bali can be dangerous. Don’t ruin your holiday!

No, like the majority of beaches in Bali, there is no entrance fee to visit Nelayan Beach, just rock up, put your towel down, and enjoy your day.

- Surfing – While Nelayan isn’t as famous as some nearby beaches for waves, it’s a quieter spot for intermediate surfers. The best swells typically arrive during the dry season, from May to September, making mornings and late afternoons ideal for catching smaller, more manageable waves.
- Chilling – Roll out a towel, kick back, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. The beach has fewer visitors, making it perfect for reading, sunbathing, or just watching the fishing boats drift by. There’s something very primal and satisfying about lying down with your eyes closed and listening to the waves crash against the shore.
- Bring A Picnic – Pack some food and drinks for a relaxed beach lunch. Remember to take all rubbish with you; let’s keep Bali’s beaches clean!
