What Is The Weight Limit For Horse Riding In Bali?

You don’t need any previous riding ability to enjoy horse riding in Bali but you must meet the weight limit.

This isn’t a prejudicial limit set to inconvenience you, Balinese tourism businesses hate to turn anyone away, it’s a limit to ensure that the horses remain safe and healthy throughout the experience.

The usual limit in Bali for horses is 90 Kg. This is in keeping with the generally endorsed idea that a horse should not carry more than 20% of their body weight during riding.

This includes the clothing, tack and saddle used and is not just about the weight of the rider.

It’s worth noting that overloading a horse can have a serious impact on its gait and behaviour. Many of the horses in Bali are rescue horses and it’s very important not to damage their trust in their riders too.

What Do You Wear To Horse Riding In Bali?

You should always wear long trousers as well as sensible shoes. We’d recommend that you also cover yourself with sunscreen to ensure that you don’t get burned.
