One nice thing about this gym is that it’s not very far from the beach, so you can catch some rays when you’re done.

FAQs

Does Bali Have Good Gyms?

Yes, in fact, Bali has excellent gyms. With many people drawn to Bali for its beach life and spiritual nature, there’s a defined need among many visitors to work out, and there is no end to the gyms that have sprung up to meet that need.

In fact, while our list of the best gyms in Bali has over 30 inclusions (see above), there are probably enough gyms on the island that you could go to one every day for months without ever having to go to the same place twice.

Oddly, fitness studios and gyms in Bali aren’t the cheapest places, and while they cost less than a gym in Sydney, for example, might, they’re pretty expensive compared to local wages.

What Is The Cheapest Gym To Join In Bali?

We think Pucuk Gym Bali has to be in the running for the cheapest gym in Bali if it’s not THE cheapest.

At 400,000 IDR for a month’s membership, you really can’t go wrong if you’re on a tight budget.

Though we would note that it’s cheap because the gym equipment is very basic and there are no personal training sessions or fitness classes included in the membership.

Most of all, there’s no air-conditioning in this gym, so you can expect to sweat and sweat hard while you exercise.

Having said that, what do you expect for less than $30 USD a month? We think it represents excellent value for money despite the limited facilities.

How Much Is A Gym Per Day In Bali?

It very much depends on the gym. Bali has a lot of gyms, as you can see from the lists above.

The cheapest day pass that we’re aware of is 50,000 IDR – that’s about $3 USD or $5 AUD. But the same gym charges just 400,000 IDR for a month, that’s about $25 USD or $40 AUD. Which means you can spend as little as $1 USD or $1.20 AUD a day!

However, the majority of gyms here on the island cost more than that, and you’re going to find that typically a monthly membership runs 1.5-3 million IDR – that’s about $100-$200 USD or $150-$300 AUD.

For that, you’ll get a fully equipped gym, fitness classes, and much more.

If you need special services such as one-on-one martial arts training, you may even need to spend more than that to get exactly what you need.

So, how much you spend will depend on the gym, the area and your needs.

How To Choose A Gym In Bali?

Choosing a gym in Bali should be done on the same basis as you would anywhere else in the world:

  • Define your fitness goals and other needs:

    • What are you aiming for? Strength training? Flexibility? Cardio?

    • What kind of workout is your favourite? Solo? Group classes? A mix of both?

    • What do you need for your workout? Cardio machines? Free weights? Pilates studios?

    • Do you need a personal trainer?

    • What’s your budget?

  • Think about where, physically, will work for you:

    • Gym goers are more likely to go if the gym is easy to get to

    • Are the open gym hours in line with your schedule?

    • Does the gym have parking or easy transport access?

  • Check out the facility (try a day pass):

    • Give the equipment a thorough inspection – does the gym have what you need, and is it in good working order?

    • Check out the vibe – is this a clean, fun, inviting place that makes you want to come

    • Are there any classes? What types of classes, and what times are they available at?

    • Think about other amenities – cafe, ice baths, sauna, air con, etc., are they available?

  • Talk to the staff too:

    • Are they helpful, and are they knowledgeable?

    • Do they seem supportive, kind and friendly?

    • Do you feel welcome and wanted?

  • Get down to the finances:

    • What are the membership costs? What is the contract like?

    • Are there any additional fees?

    • Is there a trial period?

When you weigh up all this stuff, you should find choosing a gym becomes much easier from the list of best gyms in Bali above.

Final Thoughts On Finding A Gym, Bali

There are so many options for “best gyms in Bali” that you’re bound to find the perfect place to work out on your doorstep – whether you just want a bit of weight training and cardio machines or you need personal training sessions, an outdoor functional training zone, martial arts, or body weight resistance training.

Just make sure to try any gym on a day pass before committing to a long membership. While every gym on our list and many other gyms in Bali are good gyms, they may still not be the right gym for you.

All the yoga classes, functional fitness classes, gym equipment, etc., can’t make somewhere a good fit for your personal needs. You just have to try them and see if you’re compatible.
