We scouted the island to find out what are the best event options for Father’s Day in Bali and what you can expect from it.

When Is Father’s Day In Bali? Is There A Father’s Day In Indonesia?

The Father’s Day celebration in Bali and Indonesia happens on November, 12th, every year.

The idea came to the mothers-members of the Association for the Son of Mother Earth (PPIP) in 2014. They sent letters with the initiative to other regions of Indonesia and since then, the date was set.

The international date is usually around the third Sunday in June for countries in Europe, America, Asia, and South Africa, or the first Sunday of September in Australia.

The majority of resorts and restaurants usually organize activities, promos, and events in June following the American tradition.

Upcoming Dates For Father’s Day:

  • Sunday, June 15th, 2025 (majority of the countries), and Sunday, September 7, 2025 (Australia)

  • Sunday, June 21st, 2026, and Sunday, September 6, 2025 (Australia)

  • Sunday, June 20th, 2027, and Sunday, September 5, 2025 (Australia)

Is Father’s Day Celebrated in Bali?

Balinese families do not celebrate Father’s Day in a Western tradition and it is not a public holiday. There are no church celebrations or fun activities.

At the same time, the culture in Bali is very respectful of ancestors and spirits, and there are special celebrations and ceremonies to remember those family members who passed away.

In a modern way, like the day is celebrated in USA, Europe, or Australia, Indonesia, and Bali don’t yet have special rituals for this day, and older generations may not be aware it exists.

The warmth of the tropical waters and climate, the vibrant culture, and the endless green landscapes can be a great change for your dad, especially if he works a lot and takes care of your whole family.

You may catch a tuna or even a barracuda!

Make sure to book a tour with a local guide and driver to get all the secret tips and locations.

Make Reservations For A Family Dinner

A few resorts and restaurants will organize Father’s Day brunch and dinner events for the whole family to join.

You can easily book an extra night at the resort and enjoy spending quality time in the pools, spa, or by the beach with your dad.

Go Fishing

Proud with catch

If your dad loves fishing, Bali is perfect for an exotic fishing trip. As most of the coastal villages around Bali were or still are fishing villages, you will be able to find a boat and a local fisherman willing to take you to the open ocean.

The best spots will be around Jimbaran, Lovina, and Amed.

Go On Adventures

Go on an ATV adventure or dirt bike tour. Climb down canyons or do some white water rafting if your dad loves adrenaline and extreme sports.

Or simply trek to a waterfall or hike Mt Batur to see the sunrise if he prefers more mellow activity, yet still amidst nature.

If your dad loves water sports, take him to Wake Park in Benoa or get a surfing session together in the morning or afternoon to see the sunset.

If there are many kids in your family, you can also go to Southeast Asia’s best waterpark – Waterbom, not far from Kuta.

Visit A Museum

If your dad is a more reserved person, interested in art and history, there are things to do in Bali too.

Many art and craft museums, including a political one, are concentrated in Ubud, which is also one of the nicest and greenest areas in Bali to visit.

Spa & Barber Shop Visit

It is not true that men don’t like spas!

Many amazing spa treatments in Bali are tailored specifically for men, even facials, and some deep tissue ashiatsu massages where the therapist will use her legs and full body weight to work on tight muscles.

Of course, you can get a full haircut and beard trim service for a fraction of the cost in the US or Australia.

Cooking Classes

If your father loves cooking, book a class to learn 5 to 10 authentic Balinese and Indonesian recipes including sides, main dishes, and yummy desserts and mostly using only traditional techniques the Bali family has used for generations.

Where To Celebrate Father’s Day In Bali

Instead of a “Best Dad Ever” coffee mug, organize for your whole family a nice brunch or dinner in Bali. The island is well known for amazing local and international cuisine and you can find any food you can imagine.

Every year, hotels and restaurants will announce the events closer to the date (end of May, beginning of June), but usually, these are the top choices to consider for a celebration.

Resorts:

  • InterContinental Bali Resort usually has a Father’s Day feast accompanied by a DJ set. You can book a poolside table and enjoy your lunch and drinks.

  • St Regis Bali Resort offers a lavish Sunday Brunch for Father’s Day and every father will also receive a small gift from the resort. The brunch takes place at the Boneka Restaurant within the resort.

  • Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort adds a special whisky tasting to their classic Sunday Brunch on Father’s Day. And your dad may also be lucky to get a complimentary test drive of a real Harley-Davidson.

  • Movenpick Resort & Spa’s package for Father’s Day brunch includes a buffet-style feast, and fun activities like jokes, beer pong, pillow fights, and so on. There will be also a foam party for kids and a craft market.

Note, that the offers may slightly vary from year to year and it is best to check social media for updated prices (in the past years, a special brunch cost around 60 AUD per person).

Restaurants:

  • Cheeky Monkey Cafe in Ubud hosts a family hangout with free beer for fathers (or juice) and activities for kids to keep them busy.

  • Bali Hai Restaurant has an impressive brunch for dads with a choice of light and delicate apps and mains from classic breakfast menu to oysters.

  • Mauri Restaurant is a fine-dining restaurant specializing in Italian cuisine. For Father’s Day brunch, they used to have a tasting menu with cocktails or wine.

  • Take your dad to get some delicious steaks! There are plenty of options, from Australian BBQ all-you-can-eat style to upscale restaurants like Boy’n’Cow. We may be biased, but our favourite is a 300gr Ribeye Australian steak at Bondi Restaurant at FINNS.
