On the southern tip of Bali’s Bukit Peninsula, this beautiful clifftop estate sits high on the cliffs overlooking the Indian Ocean and the nearby Pandawa Beach, one of the island’s pristine white sandy beaches.
The Pandawa Cliff Estate has four villas, The Pala, Villa Rose, Villa Marie and Villa Markisa.
Each villa features its own private pool, each unique to the other, and a lounge setup with a TV, almost like a cinema room.
There’s an onsite chef and his team, who cook complimentary breakfast each day, and have a wide selection of food which can be prepared at any time.
Other facilities on the grounds include a tennis court, a squash court, a fully equipped gym and a spa, and it’s only a short walk to Pandawa Beach.
The four villas here are quite different from each other:
The Pala – meaning ‘Nutmeg’ – is the flagship luxury villa of Pandawa Cliff Estate. The double-height entrance, beautifully carved in gold, red and sea-green-painted wood, leads into the grand foyer. The floor to ceiling glass has amazing Indian Ocean views.
Along with The Pala North Wing, which can be booked alongside, this can sleep 20 adults. It makes a great venue for a wedding or another event.
Villa Rose – more modern and less grandiose than The Pala, we liked Villa Rose a lot.
The open terrace looks straight out over the private infinity pool, towards the Indian Ocean, simply amazing view, and a great place to hang out, relax or party with friends and family.
There’s a huge lounge with a TV, a kitchen and a 14 seat glass top dining table.
Villa Rose sleeps 8 people, but four extra beds can be requested beforehand for a price.
Villa Marie – the most Balinese style of the options on Pandawa Cliff Estate, Villa Marie is made from four buildings, laid out symmetrically with a central private T-shaped pool.
This is the perfect villa for a group of friends, the separate buildings mean everyone can stay together whilst having their own private villas. The layout sleeps up to 12 adults.
Villa Markisa – the newest addition to Pandawa Cliff Estate, this villa boasts two buildings separated by a green garden. The villa nearest the beach has a beautiful ocean view which can be seen from the bed!
There’s a small pool looking out to the sea, great for cooling off after that tennis court, but this one is more about the garden, great to laze around on or for a kick around.
Villa Markisa is made to sleep up to 10 adults.

Alila Villas Uluwatu
Alila Villas Uluwatu, Bali, sit on the limestone cliffs of the southern tip, with beautiful Indian Ocean views.

Tenang Villas are on the small island of Nusa Lembongan, just east of Bali.

Nestled on the cliff top between Padang Padang and Bingin Beaches, on its own little stretch of rocky beach sits Mandala’s masterpiece, The Rocks.
This is a unique, stand-alone villa, and what a villa it is, Mandala is pretty proud of this one.

Ayana Resort is on the west coast of the Bukit Peninsula, not far from Jimbaran Bay.
This is a large resort complex, 4 hotels rolled into one, which has villas at one end.

This is a five-suite villa estate on the steep cliffs of Uluwatu. The cliffs here may be a sheer drop, but actually it’s only about a 10 minute walk from the villa to the secluded Suluban Beach.
Villa capacity varies from 12 people to 16 people, so it’s only really good for groups, not couples or solo travellers. There are four pools on the property, plus three plunge pools.

Villa Plenilunio
On the southern tip of Uluwatu, Bali, on cliff top land perched overlooking Nunggalan Beach, is Villa Plenilunio.
