Tips For Eating On A Budget In Canggu
-
Look for Nasi Campur places. It is similar to our understanding of buffet but with a wide selection of Balinese and Indonesian dishes.
-
Canggu is very touristy so most places will be able to accommodate your preferences if you prefer not spicy.
-
Budgeting is great but if the place doesn’t look popular and food doesn’t look very fresh, don’t risk it. Bali Belly (severe food poisoning and diarrhea are real and not pleasant if you’re on vacation).
-
If you have any allergies or dietary restrictions, make sure to use Google Translate to explain it to the vendor. They may not be able to serve you, but they also do not always speak English.
-
Search for food promos and happy hours. It will help you get the most bang for the buck. For ex., the Greek restaurant Santorini serves pita kebabs for 5 AUD only every Monday.
-
Cheap restaurants and cafes do not require a reservation.
