Our world wouldn’t be as amazing without pets, and travelling sometimes means we get separated from our beloved cats!
Well, gladly, in Bali, they have quite a few clean and professional cat cafes that will allow you to pet, play, and feed adorable kitties.
These are the top cat cafes in Bali that are a true paradise for cat lovers, and you can visit them with your kids during the trip.
And remember, buying a coffee at these cafes means providing these little fur friends with needed support, which goes a long way!
Our Favourite Cat Cafes In Bali

Although there are just a handful of specialised cat cafes on the island, you will occasionally see friendly cats and dogs in the restaurants and coffee shops everywhere – sometimes they belong to the owners, sometimes they are just cute strays. So you will get many chances to see some felines on your trip.
The Odd Cat Bali, Canggu
The Odd Cat Bali is a professional cat boarding hotel, event space, rescue centre, and a cafe where you can play with kitties or adopt one (or two).
This cat sanctuary was started almost 10 years ago by Kevin and Julie, who love both cats and Bali, and had a mission to provide shelter to as many abandoned, abused or injured kitties. Once they are healed, they get a real chance to find a loving family!
You can either donate and get a free bowl of dry cat food or simply order something from the menu to enjoy the company of dozens of cats. You can get iced drinks or coffee and some simple snacks.
What we love about this cat cafe is that there are clear rules protecting feline privacy and well-being, and while it is a family-friendly place, kids should be supervised and be very gentle with animals.

Sanur Cat Cafe has about 30 to 50 cats, mostly rescued cats with different stories and health conditions (some are deaf, can’t walk, etc), but all extremely cute and friendly.
The entrance fee is 50,000 IDR (5 AUD) and includes a soft drink. Note that only kids 6 y.o.+ are allowed. If you’d like to join the cause, consider donating (they accept all currencies).
The space is well air-conditioned and cat-oriented with lots of toys, food, and spaces to play, sleep, or hide.

Bali Cats: What To Expect?

Bali cats are a kind of their own, partly feral, very smart, with signature short tails. They are, nevertheless, both cute and fun to watch or interact with.
Note that Balinese cat breed and Bali cats are not the same thing, and regular stray or domestic cats in Bali usually have short hair, small heads for females, slim bodies, and often short or crooked tails.
Unfortunately, there are just too many stray cats roaming the island, to the point that rescue centres are always overloaded. In that sense, Bali cat cafes and foundations help a ton – they raise money that can be used for vaccination, sterilisation, and treatment of rescued cats.
FAQs
Are Cat Cafés Stressful For Cats?
Cat cafes can be stressful for cats if not managed properly – often, toddlers and kids, unfortunately, can be too loud or play roughly with cats, wake them up or chase them. If guests follow the rules and respect the cats’ desires and privacy, the cats are happy to interact as they are often very social and playful.
What Is The Entrance Fee For Cat Cafes In Bali?
Some cat cafes in Bali don’t ask for an entrance fee as long as you order a drink or a snack. Otherwise, it can be anywhere from 25,000 to 50,000 for entry, on average.
Can You Bring Cats Home From Bali?
Unfortunately, there is no legal way to take a cat home from Bali – it is still considered the “rabies zone” and pets or other animals are not allowed in or out of the country.
Are Cats Allowed In Bali?
There are thousands of cats in Bali, but you can’t bring your cat with you on your Bali trip or even if you’re moving countries.
The laws strictly regulate it, and neither cats nor dogs can cross the borders of Bali (which doesn’t apply to the whole of Indonesia, by the way, only Bali).
Final Thoughts On Cat Cafes, Bali
Looking into adoption, or can’t have a cat just yet, but are missing those rewarding moments with a pet?
Cat cafes in Bali save dozens of cats from the streets and have built true sanctuaries for felines in Canggu, Ubud, Denpasar, and Sanur. Make sure to take some photos with cute kitties, too!
