Our 20 Best Warungs In Ubud

Puspa’s Warung

You’ll find Puspa’s on a quiet side street near the main centre of town and it serves delicious local and international fare.

Their dragon smoothie bowl is excellent as is the satay and we could happily eat here on a regular basis.

We also loved the vibe of Puspa’s, it’s so friendly and welcoming.

Wayan’s Warung Ubud

The dragon fruit juice at this warung in Ubud is an absolute must-try and it accompanies their menu of Western and local dishes, perfectly.

The mie goreng is very good here, but we found the chicken burger to be superb value and our favourite item on our visit.

It’s a bit of a walk out of the centre to find this warung but it’s worth the effort.

Made Becik Waroeng

They do an amazing range of fruit juices at this warung in Ubud and they’re all so tasty and refreshing.

We were also impressed with their use of eco-friendly materials if you ask for a meal to go – no styrofoam anywhere in sight.

The family that run this place are always very welcoming and do their best to make you feel completely at home.

Warung d’Carik

The red seafood curry here is so good that we rarely order anything else at Warung d’Carik which is probably a shame as when we do, the food is always super tasty too.

It’s excellent value for money too and you will find that you get big portions for cheap.

This is a cute little cafe with excellent Wi-Fi that’s not far from the centre of town and their service is first rate.

We tried the pork ribs on our visit and were very pleased with how tasty and succulent they were.

They also do one of the best cups of coffee for a warung in Ubud.

Avocado Warung Ubud

This may be the best vegan warung on the island and the vegan dishes here are very much influenced by Balinese food and rely heavily on local products to deliver their excellent taste.

The portions are huge, the fresh ingredients really make for amazing flavours and the service is excellent.

This hidden gem could easily be the best restaurant in town if you’re following a plant-based lifestyle.

Warung Gauri

This is a very cheap destination that doesn’t compromise on quality, the location is a little outside of the main part of Ubud (which probably keeps their rent down) and has a very nice view of the local area.

They have an extensive vegan and vegetarian menu which means that plant-based eaters will be very well catered to here.

Our go to is the nasi campur which is definitely worth enduring some of the slowest service on the island.

Mama’s Warung

The grilled chicken satay here is absolutely excellent and it’s one of our top reasons for visiting Mama’s.

We’re also happy to report that this warung in Ubud is very much vegan-friendly and is happy to change up any dish to a plant-based equivalent.

Their mie goreng is also very good and we can see ourselves going back to Mama’s on a regular basis in the future.

Ubud Shanti Warung

They serve their nasi campur here with salted fish and it really adds an extra dimension to the taste, it’s outstanding.

We also recommend their dadar gulung (a local coconut pancake which is the right balance between sweet and savoury).

It’s the best warung in the rice fields for our money and we love going back here.

Sugriwa’s Warung

The pork sambal matah here is the best we’ve found anywhere in Bali and we prefer it to the classic Babi Guling served at every other warung in Ubud.

It’s a very clean warung and while it’s not among the rice terraces, the location is beautiful and pleasant.

They even provide free drinking water to those who don’t want to buy a drink while they eat.

Nessa Warung

A local guide recommended this place to us and we really liked the outdoor seating area but it does have a tendency to attract mosquitoes later in the day.

They have a nice koi pond on the grounds and a great menu that includes vegan and vegetarian options (it’s not a vegan warung, mind you, it serves meat dishes too).

Murni’s Warung

We were blown away by the tutu ayam here and the chicken was so tender and flavourful that we don’t think we could make it better at home, either.

The variety on the menu at this warung in Ubud is huge and it’s really 5-star Indonesian food for a very reasonable price.

Warung Kusuma Ubud

They make their coconut pie with just the right level of coconut oil here and it’s one of the sweetest treats in the area.

This is also, perhaps, the best warung for a pizza in Ubud and we found all of their cheap eats to be tasty and well presented.

We were impressed by the range of fresh fruit available for dessert and it’s worth the extra cost to try some local flavour.

Sun Sun Warung

The food is excellent at Sun Sun but it’s a very traditional eating environment and you should be prepared to sit on cushions on the ground to enjoy a meal here.

The crispy skin on the bebek duck is one dish that you really want to look out for and it’s super full of flavour.

We were also impressed with their cocktail menu, when we eat in Ubud, we’ll definitely go back to Sun Sun.

Warung Tradisi Ubud

You can’t see this awesome little warung from the road but it’s worth persisting to find it as it may be the best warung in Ubud.

It’s ridiculously cheap, the portions are generous and the ingredients the use are first rate. From the ayam bakar to the shrimp paste, it’s some of the best food we’ve had anywhere in Bali.

Warung Colada Ubud

They do take credit cards at this little warung in Central Ubud but it’s worth noting that there’s a 2.5% surcharge for using a card.

We recommend going with the fried chicken and the nasi goreng which are great. The fish can be a bit dry and they don’t debone it.

Budi’s Warung

Conveniently located on Monkey Forest Road this family-owned and operated restaurant does all the classics like nasi goreng (fried rice), fried noodles (mie goreng) and nasi campur (mixed rice).

However, it’s a small place and it can get ridiculously busy at the peak hours of the day, so make sure to get there early if you don’t want to queue.

Their banana rolls are an awesome dessert option too.

Warung Lemongrass

We love cheap eats among the rice paddies and this is, perhaps, the best warung in Ubud for satay and we love that you can order extra sauce here.

We like our rice doused in sauce as well as our satay and most places never seem to have enough sauce to go round.

Food lovers will love the varied menu at this family-run place and our only complaint is that we wish they ran a cooking class too, so we could learn to cook like them!
