Our Favourite Authentic Teppanyaki Restaurants In Bali
Shima Teppanyaki, Seminyak
Cozy, traditional-style Japanese restaurant with stylish interiors and delicious food you can indulge in. Gyutan Fried Rice, Truffle Mushroom Pork Chop, and teppan bowls with rice are incredibly tasty.
Rayjin has two more restaurants you can visit, one in Jimbaran and one in Ubud. They are the busiest in the evening, so book your table in advance.

Tenkai Japanese Nikkei Restaurant, Legian
The OG sushi and teppanyaki restaurant in Bali with teppanyaki tables for groups and a more private area for romantic dinners.
You can pick whatever you want to be cooked on the teppan a la carte, or order one of the crafted sets. The prices for sets are very affordable, starting from about 300,000 IDR (30 AUD).
For drinks, they make soju cocktails and offer beers and wine by the glass.

Mori is a luxurious restaurant just in the centre of Ubud, and will be an amazing spot for dinner. The chefs introduce seasonal local ingredients into Japanese cuisine and bring meats and seafood from Japan and the waters around Bali.
The teppanyaki counter only seats 10 people, and you will have a really private and exclusive dining experience at Mori.
Our favourite set here is the one with Japanese A5 Wagyu as the main dish.

Shichirin, Canggu
An upscale Japanese restaurant specialising in teppanyaki, izakaya-style dishes, and Gyukatsu (breaded fried meats).
You will find classic dishes on the menu with seafood, meat, and fresh vegetables, as well as some fusion ideas, like beef tartar in taco shells. We loved Gyu Katsu Wagyu and the scallops appetiser.
Shichirin also has branches in Ubud and Seminyak.

KO Restaurant, Jimbaran
Honzen is a great Japanese restaurant with omakase and teppanyaki-style menus. The teppanyaki area is separated from the omakase dining, so you will have to choose which one you prefer.
We agree with all the reviews – wagyu beef and lobster are absolutely amazing at Honzen. But if you want something unique, try kimchi pork or dry-aged fish.

Papa Lee’s is an ultra-popular family-owned dining venue with a great choice of food from teppanyaki to dumplings. And this place is truly unique as they do not serve Japanese cuisine, but Taiwanese-style teppanyaki.
If you come here, you have to try their steaks and beef noodles – a perfect balance of flavours and textures. The prices are closer to upper-tier restaurants.

Kagura, Nusa Dua
Genji is a lesser-known teppanyaki restaurant in Nusa Dua with amazing shows and a laid-back atmosphere.
The culinary skills of all the chefs are top-notch; everything on the tasting menu, from miso soup to tempura and teppan-fried rice, tastes delicious, but the highlight is probably the seafood set with lobster and shrimp.
Make sure to try all the sauces, they really bring out more flavour! For vegetarians, this is probably the only teppanyaki restaurant in Bali with a special plant-based set.

Last but not least, a top-tier Japanese cuisine restaurant at the Westin Resort in Nusa Dua – Hamabe.
Talented teppanyaki chefs here can make you anything you like, from a plate of thick slices of sashimi to classic teppanyaki meals, or you can order a shabu-shabu experience and enjoy it at your private table.
Beef and seafood are great, but we actually liked the teppanyaki chicken with rice here the most. Make sure to save some space for their signature banana flambé dessert!
