Our Favourite Indian Restaurants In Kuta For Meat Lovers & Vegetarians

DARBAR

At DARBAR, you can expect to get delectable dishes in both meaty and vegetarian options. It is a perfect spot for an authentic dining experience if you follow a plant-based diet – the vegetarian dining room and kitchen are separated from the main room to avoid any contamination.

Darbar signature thali set is a must, but, honestly, all side dishes and mains we tried were amazing, and what’s best had very reasonable prices! Prawn biryani and cheese naan were a highlight for us.

Annapoorna Delight Indian Restaurant

A culinary gem hidden inside Risata Resort, Annapoorna is a true “India gateway”. It is an upscale, very elegant venue, great for romantic dinners.

Flavorful dishes are all made by the chef, Om Prakash, from India – curry, dishes cooked in Tandoor, Indian rice dishes, and plenty of vegetarian options. North Indian dal makhani, paneer tikka masala, butter naan, and mango lassi are absolute must-haves here.

The atmosphere is great too, with some Indian music playing in the background.

Kebabs & Kurries

A small joint serving budget-friendly South and North Indian cuisine is just a short ride from the airport.

You won’t go wrong with curries here, especially mutton rogan josh, paneer kebabs, and Amritsari kulcha bread (delicious bread stuffed with green chilli paste, garam masala, potatoes, and subtle spices), and chole. We have to say, we loved kulcha more than naan bread!

Bollywood Masalaz

A top-rated Indian restaurant in Bali that is really close to the airport, with warm hospitality, India-inspired design, and amazing food.

We recommend getting garlic naan, butter chicken, paneer butter masala, or vegetable biryani – everything tastes like on the streets of New Delhi. While mostly focused on delicious Indian food, they have a few Western-style main dishes, too.

Aahar

Chefs at Aahar make delicious Jain-friendly vegetarian Indian dishes you can enjoy in a neat modern setting. It is a brand new restaurant, but has become quite popular already!

Our top choices would be khichdi, cheese masala dosa, and paneer tikka masala. Plus, the prices here are better than at many Indian restaurants in central Kuta.

Chaskaa Modern Indian Cuisine

Chaskaa is an upper-class Indian restaurant and bar with chic interiors and delicious food. Tandoori oven bakes soft naan, rotis, and chapati, as well as iconic tandoori chicken, lamb, fish, and veggies.

The menu covers both South and North Indian cuisine with a few gluten-free and vegan dishes. What we recommend trying: momos, butter chicken, paneer (reminds cottage cheese), and traditional masala chai to end the meal.

Warung 44

A cheap eats spot in Kuta, Bali, to enjoy both Indonesian and Indian food. The Indian cuisine at this eatery is mostly biryani rice dishes (chicken biryani, mix vegetables, lamb, paneer, or prawn), Indian bread, and curry.

Chicken curry and garlic cheese never disappoint at Warung 44.

Indian Downtown Resto Bar Bali

A famous restaurant serving authentic Indian cuisine, with three branches in Bali: Kuta, Legian, and Nusa Penida.

Both non-vegetarian and vegetarian menus are quite extensive, plus they bake breads and pizza. Interestingly, though, price-wise, both non-veg and vegetarian options practically cost the same (a plate here is about 10 AUD).

Insider tip: come around sunset and pick a seat at the rooftop area. You will have more privacy and can also enjoy shisha.

Shiv Shakti

Shiv Shakti is a great Indian restaurant in Nusa Dua with a new branch just opened in Kuta, Bali. The menu offers spicy vegetarian Indian food and Indian-Chinese dishes like iconic manchurian.

Probably the best puri appetisers we tried, very good naan, and dhal. You will also find Kathiyawadi, tandoori, and Punjabi dishes on the menu.

Punjabi Grill Bali

The best Indian restaurant in Kuta for authentic Punjabi food, hands down, with a few more branches around Bali and Indonesia.

Dishes we recommend ordering: Punjabi Chicken Curry, classic palak paneer, mutton Rogan Josh, and garlic or plain naan. The good thing here is that the kitchen can adjust the spice level to your liking.

Gujarat Indian Restaurant

As the name suggests, this Kuta restaurant serves authentic Gujarati (traditional vegetarian dishes from the Gujarat region), but also Jani food, and typical dishes from South India, North India and Rajasthan (all vegetarian).

If you want to try something new, get a salted lassi drink, puri with tomato sauce, and tadka dal with herbs and spices (get it with butter chapati or cheese dal).

Apart from really great food, the service here is just impeccable.

Another 100% vegetarian and vegan Indian restaurant around Kuta with nice food and Hindi music in the background.

Pav bhaji, chole, naans and rotis, dal tadka, and dal kidchi with buttermilk – all amazing main dishes to try.

Ganesha Ek Sanskriti

Ganesha Ek Sanskriti is a great restaurant in Kuta to indulge in delicious indian cuisine. In fact, it is the largest Indian food chain in Southeast Asia, operating for more than 20 years!

The restaurant has beautiful ocean views, skilled Indian chefs, and a long menu of snacks, Tandoori specialties, South Indian food, Indian-Chinese dishes, and the best food from Northern India. Our top picks are paneer curry and mutton biryani.

There are a few outlets; the top-rated ones are at the Discovery Mall and Sunset Road. The one at Lippo Mall is the most visited, but it can be hit or miss.

Ayodhya Indian Pure Veg & Jain Restaurant

A beautiful and cozy vegetarian and Jain Indian restaurant in Kuta right next to all the malls, the beach, and the water park.

The homemade Indian food here is delicious and worthy of 5 stars! We would definitely recommend getting a soup for starters, mushroom biryani, and veg maharaja!

Spice Mantraa Indian Cuisine

One of the most popular spots amongst Indian food lovers in Kuta is for the authentic taste of their tandoori dishes, biryani, chicken tikka masala, and lamb rogan josh.

They also have a restaurant in Seminyak and in Goa, India, which means they know how to serve the best Indian food, as the competition for indian food in India is ruthless.

The downside here is a bit higher prices and added taxes.

Atithi

Although this restaurant doesn’t have the best rating on Google Maps, it deserves an honourable mention for two reasons.

First, real Indian chefs work here and they source Indian basmati rice from India without cutting corners and using local produce (which is good rice, just not used in authentic indian food).

And second, most important one, Indian tourists love this place for delicious lamb curries perfectly spiced, butter naans, traditional Indian tea, authentic Thaalis meal sets (on request), and Gujarati dishes.

As a pleasant bonus, every day from 8 PM you can even sing along to your favourite Indian songs, and twice a week there is a live Bollywood music band.
