There are many lists of best waterfalls in Bali and you will find that if you visit these places, you’re always surrounded by crowds of people.
Yeh Bulan Waterfall is different, it’s a hidden gem and you can enjoy this beautiful place and take amazing pictures without ever running into an influencer.
This is the real Bali and it’s located near enough to the main tourist towns that you won’t need to travel for days to see it.
Our guide explains everything you need to know about Yeh Bulan Waterfall, how to get there, what to expect and much more!
Where Is Yeh Bulan Waterfall?
Yeh Bulan Waterfall is near Jehem Village in the Bangli Regency of East Bali. It’s not far from the Besakih Temple (which is often a highlight of people’s visit to Bali) and if you’re on a day trip with a private driver, you can easily visit the waterfall and the temple.
It’s also very near Goa Raja Waterfall. Goa Raja Waterfall is a waterfall in a cave and it’s one of the best places to take some great shots for your Instagram feed in Bali.
Address: Jehem, Tembuku, Bangli Regency, Bali 80613, Indonesia
How To Get To Yeh Bulan Waterfall?
We’d recommend that you hire a car for the trip. This won’t cost much (500,000 IDR or $35 USD or $50 AUD) and means you get a car, driver and all the fuel you need for 8 hours for a fixed price.
The driver can wait for you in the parking area at the waterfall and ensure that your possessions remain safe throughout the day trip, and this saves you from carrying excessive amounts of stuff on your walk down to the waterfall.
There is no public transport, whatsoever, out to this area and while you can use Grab or Gojek to get here – you will find that you can’t use them to get home again, afterwards, there simply aren’t any drivers in this part of Bali.
We also think it’s better to pay a small additional charge for a private driver than to rent a scooter and try to negotiate the terrain on your own.
Bali’s roads are bad at the best of times and they’re worse out here, it’s not worth risking an accident on the journey.
You are also unlikely to find an organized tour that explores the beauty of this area, the majority of tourists only take an excursion to the top 5 or so most popular waterfalls in Bali.
The Walk To The Waterfall
There are no signs up but it’s not hard to find your way from the parking area. Follow the clear trail down until you reach the steps, climb down the steps, and follow the path, you will pass a pool lined by religious statues on the way, cross the bridge, and keep walking until you reach the waterfall.
This isn’t a long hike and you should get there in about 10 minutes. You may find that when the river as at its fullest, that your feet get wet, but you don’t walk in the water (unlike at some of the other local waterfalls in this area).
We were impressed by how well-maintained the path and bridge are and this is one of the waterfalls in Bali that’s definitely easy to get to. It’s a jungle adventure, for sure, but not a risky one.
When Is The Best Time To Visit Yeh Bulan Waterfall?
The best time to visit any waterfall in Bali is the end of the wet season. This is when the volume of water over the falls is at its peak and the natural pool at the base is fullest with water – making it easier to swim or dive.
However, the walk to Yeh Bulan might be easier during the dry season as the path to its location will be less slippery.
Is There An Entrance Fee For Yeh Bulan Waterfall?
Yes, if you want to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere at this place along with its scenic views you will need to pay 20,000 IDR per person to enter the Yeh Bulan Waterfall grounds.
This includes the use of the changing room at the end of the path to the waterfall so that you can enjoy a swim in the natural pool below the cascading waters of the first waterfall here.
It also allows you to leave your vehicle in the parking area before you commence the short walk to the waterfall.
What To Expect At Yeh Bulan Waterfall
There is a changing room at the waterfall so that you can get changed and enjoy a swim.
Lush Greenery
The waterfall itself is framed with lush vegetation and it will look awesome in your photographs. There are a series of waterfalls breaking over the rocks and they form a fine mist spray in parts of the walk, so make sure to protect any camera gear you have.

There are several natural pools at the base of the rocks and you can swim or bathe in any of them. There are very few visitors to this waterfall, so you should have them all to yourself.

A very easy-to-reach spot with a very attractive pair of waterfalls. However, be prepared to wade some of the way through the local stream to get there.

Final Thoughts On Visiting Yeh Bulan Waterfall
We love Yeh Bulan Waterall. It’s the kind of place that we came to Bali for in the first place. It’s a little slice of paradise in the tropics and so far, at least, it’s not overwhelmed with visitors on a day trip from the beach towns.
