Bali Customs Declaration: How To Get Your QR Code For An Easy Arrival

Entering Indonesia is a surprisingly easy process, and that goes for Bali as much as it does for the rest of the country. However, if you don’t want to spend a lot of time at the airport when you arrive, it’s a good idea to get your Indonesia customs declaration done before you enter the country.

Don’t worry, though, it’s super easy to complete a customs declaration form and wander through Indonesia customs on arrival. Here’s everything you need to know.

TL;DR?

You must complete the all-Indonesia arrival card online, and while you can do this when you get to Bali airport, travellers entering Indonesia will usually find it easier to do this in advance.

This process is free of charge and should only be done through the official customs form through the All-Indonesia portal.

All-Indonesia – Your Customs Declaration, Health Declaration and Arrival Card In One

Bali Customs Declaration

Until recently, everyone who had travel plans for Indonesia was faced with a breathtaking amount of paperwork, all of which was administered online through different portals.

The good news is that today, this paperwork has all been consolidated on the All-Indonesia Portal. You no longer need to start a Bali trip with a customs declaration, health declaration and arrival card in separate places.

The even better news is that this process is completely free of charge. As long as you have paid for the correct visa, you do not need to pay anything to Indonesian customs, health authorities, etc.

That means you must use the correct portal, and the full URL is https://allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id/ – you can tell that it’s an official web address thanks to that .imagrasi.go.id, which tells you that it’s managed by the immigration service (.imigrasi) of the government (.go) of Indonesia (.id).

The arrival card is very easy to complete, and you’ll need to input the following:

Personal Details

The first section requires some personal details from the primary traveller and any family members travelling with them.

You will need to declare:

  • The passport-issuing country for each traveller
  • The full name of each traveller
  • The date of birth of each traveller
  • The country of birth of each traveller
  • The gender for each traveller – note: Indonesia only recognises male or female as genders at this time, you should choose the gender that matches your passport
  • The passport number for each traveller
  • The passport expiry date for each traveller
  • The mobile number of the primary traveller only

There is a button on this screen to “Add Traveller” to add the details of other family members. This saves you from filling out multiple applications and allows you to pass through Indonesian customs with a single QR code.

You can only complete this form within 72 hours of arrival in the country. So, if you can’t find your arrival date in the drop-down menu, you’re probably trying too early.

Here you need to declare:

  • Your arrival date to Indonesia
  • Your departure date to Indonesia
  • Whether you already have a visa or stay permit for Indonesia (note: you are not required to have a visa at this point, Indonesia allows you to apply for a visa-on-arrival at the airport)

Mode Of Transportation And Address

Here you will need to declare:

  • Your mode of transport (usually air, though some people may arrive in Bali from the sea)
  • Your purpose of travel (such as work, vacation, etc.)
  • The type of accommodation you will be staying in (hotel, guesthouse, etc.) and the address of that accommodation

Health Declaration, Quarantine Declaration, And Customs Declaration

The final page of the online form requires you to declare the following:

  • Whether you have any of the following symptoms: fever, cough, runny nose, shortness of breath, sore throat or skin lesions/rashes
  • Your country of origin and any other countries you have visited in the 21 days leading to your arrival in Indonesia
  • Whether you are bringing any animals, fish, plants and/or processed products made of these items? If you are, you will be asked to describe these items and declare any relevant paperwork to support their entry into Indonesia.

You will then be given a table of import regulations prior to completing the customs declaration. We strongly recommend that you read these before you complete the custom declaration form, as this will ensure that you are familiar with the very latest customs requirements when entering Indonesia.

As we go to press, these requirements include:

  • You may not bring narcotics, illegal drugs, terrorism-related items, money laundering instruments, or any other prohibited items (be very careful about your prescription medications as some of these are illegal in Indonesia and bringing them into the country can result in prison sentences, heavy fines or even, in extreme circumstances, the death penalty)
  • If you bring cash, you must declare cash (whether in IDR or a foreign currency) in excess of a value of 100,000,000 IDR (100 million Rupiah, which is roughly $6000 USD or $10,000 AUD). A failure to do so can result in the seizure of the case. If you wish to bring in cash with a value of over 1,000,000,0000 IDR (1 billion Rupiah), then you need special authorisation from the Bank of Indonesia before you travel.
  • That you understand the specific limits on import values for items that you will bring into Indonesia and will not take out again, including but not limited to alcohol and tobacco products
  • A note that if you intend to use your phone or tablet on the Indonesian network, you must declare it (in practice, this is only true if you will be in the country for 90 days or more)
  • A note that if your baggage is delayed or arrives separately, you must apprise the customs officers upon arrival in Indonesia

Then you must declare:

  • How many bags are arriving with you (unaccompanied baggage must be reported to customs separately)? This should cover all the personal belongings of your family
  • Whether you have any items that must be declared to customs, and if so, you will be asked to declare them here
  • Whether you have any phones or tablets that require IMEI registration in Indonesia (again, this only applies if the device will be in Indonesia for more than 90 days)
  • That you certify the information you have provided is true

After you have confirmed that the information on the digital form, you will be asked to complete a CAPTCHA.

Then, you will receive a QR code that you can use to pass through customs in Bali. You must download the arrival card and either print it or keep a copy on your phone.

If you want or need an e-visa for Indonesia, you will be given the opportunity to move to the official immigration portal to apply for this visa.

Most tourists will find that this form is very easy to fill in and submit. Just remember that the form is only valid for a single entry into the country. You need to register the details every time you visit and complete a new form.

This is an essential step for entering the country, and it’s always best to fill in the details on the website before you travel, so you can easily pass through customs and immigration when you arrive.
