You can easily take a ride-share on Grab or Gojek to the Bali Bird Park from the beach towns of Kuta, Seminyak and Canggu and from nearby Ubud Town too.

However, we’d recommend that you negotiate with the driver for a return journey as you may find it difficult to get a car back, particularly at busier times of the day.

Most drivers will be happy to wait for you and drive you back for a small additional fee or they can help arrange a local driver to pick you up and take you back.

When Is The Best Time To Visit Bali Bird Park?

We always maintain (as we regularly say in previous blogs) that there’s no bad time to visit Bali. Even during the wet season, the days are mainly sunny and warm.

However, it can get a bit humid during the rainy season and you might prefer the slightly cooler, drier weather of the dry season to visit Bali Bird Park.

As with all of Bali’s attractions, it’s best to get there at the open in the morning if you want to avoid crowds.

As a popular holiday destination, most attractions here share the habit of getting very busy in the afternoons.

What’s The Entrance Fee For The Bird Park?

The entrance fee for the Bali Bird Park is 385,000 IDR (approximately $26 USD or $38.50 AUD) for an adult or 192,500 IDR (approximately $13 USD or $19 AUD) for a child.

There are discounts for domestic visitors and an adult will pay just 126,000 IDR and a child 63,000 IDR.

This is quite a substantial entry fee and while the bird park is a positive place for animal welfare and bird life on the island, we often wonder if they may not have priced this attraction a little high and if they might get more guests if they dropped the price?

The good news is that this price allows you to take photos in the park and there’s no additional fee for the use of a camera.

What To Expect At Bali Bird Park?

There are 8 separate habitats at the Bali Bird Park each intended to recreate natural habitats for the birds and to represent the parts of the world that the come from.

You can wander from habitat to habitat and enjoy learning about the birds as you go. It’s completely safe for children and the whole centre is family-friendly.

Our favorite is the Borneo Exhibit and its Bulwer’s Wattled Pheasant, Rhinoceros Hornbill and Flying Foxes but the two exhibits most visitors want to see are the following:

The White-Crested Hornbill

The white crested hornbill is one of the Bali Bird Park’s most famous guests and that’s because this hornbill species has a cool fluffy white hairstyle.

It’s perfectly suited for life in the bird park as it loves humid environments and being among the trees of the island.

The bird is actually from Sumatra (one of the other islands of the Indonesian Archipelago) and it lives alongside the famous Eagle Owl (one of the largest owl species on Earth).

The Eagle Owl has ears that come out sideways from its head making it one of the most distinct-looking bird species anywhere on the planet!

The Bali Starling (Bali Mynah)

The Bali Starling or Bali Mynah or Rothschild’s Mynah is a critically endangered bird species and the Bali Bird Park is playing a leading role in the conservation and breeding program for this bird.

You can see the Bali Starling at the park and learn more about the valuable programs here that aim to see the Bali Starling go home into the world in the long term.

The Komodo Experience And Other Activities

There are a bunch of different activities that are available to guests of the Bali Bird Park. However, the best of them – the Komodo Experience is only on Tuesday at 11 a.m. and Friday at 2.30 p.m.

This gives you an insight into the bird life of Komodo and introduces you to a genuine Komodo dragon!

Other activities include:

  • Papua Rainforest Feeding Program

  • Pelican Feeding Program

  • Birds of Prey Show (Basic Instinct)

  • Meet the Bird Stars (at Bali Starling Restaurant)

  • 4D Cinema

  • Lory Feeding Program

  • Guyu-Guyu (a hands-on birds program)

These activities run at various times during the day and if there’s something you particularly want to do when you’re at the bird park, it’s a good idea to check the times before you go, you don’t want to be waiting around all day for a show.
