Sometimes, you want a bar that has an edge to it, and that’s where Friends Bar comes in. It oozes modern cool, and it’s perfect for a warm-up session or the main event.
Work through the cocktail menu or go with tasty snacks and beers. There’s no pretentiousness here. You do, and it will be great.

The Back Room @ Mason: Fine Dining Restaurant And One Of The Best Bars In Bali
Fruity cocktails rather than theatrical cocktails are the way they like to roll at The Back Room. It’s one of the best cocktail bars around in the back of one of the best restaurants in town.
We love sipping their signature cocktails in their air-conditioned interior as a break from the heat of the Bali day.

Roots: Going Local Is Awesome
There’s a heavy emphasis on local Indonesian ingredients and plant-based ideas at Roots, and that’s fine by us.
They’ve got awesome fresh lime juice and passion fruit to put in their innovative cocktails, and they’re not afraid to use variations on classic cocktail ingredients either, like orange bitters.

Segno Bali: A Cocktail Connoisseur’s Paradise
If you take all of the ingredients in your cocktails seriously, you’re going to find Segno to be one of the best bars in Bali.
This comes at a price premium but one we’re happy to pay. Their mixologists are supremely talented, and we could easily drink here all night long, though we usually stop for a warm-up before we go to FINNS (because cocktails at a beach bar are our favourite way to spend an evening).

Eat & Drink @ The Slow: Pseudo-Surfer Vibes
The Slow is one of the most stylish and expensive hotels on the island, and Eat & Drink is an achingly cool pseudo-surfer hangout.
It’s one of those places you go for your Instagram feed and then find that the food and drinks won’t let you leave because they’re so good.

Rooftop Sunset Bar @ Double Six: Lounging On Top Of The World
This huge rooftop lounge is the largest in Bali, and it sits above the Double Six beach in Seminyak.
You have a massive choice of different seating options, and their happy hour will help you get in the mood for a night time’s session.
The drinks are fine, but they can’t compete with the view, which is just stunning.

Rock Bar Bali @ Ayana Resort & Spa: The Indian Ocean Views
Rock Bar gets very busy, which is probably why it’s on our best bars in Bali list. Its name comes from the local cliff face (which gets a great sunset vibe) that faces the bar, not the music that it plays.
It’s one of the best places for a sundowner anywhere on Earth, and it’s popular because the cocktails are incredible! Try the Rockatonic and see for yourself.
One thing we really like about this bar is that they often have live DJs working the decks from early in the afternoon. It’s good to see somewhere put some real effort into the music for the crowd gathered there.

Ji Terrace By The Sea: Imported Wines And Great Cocktails
This interesting bar with a blend of Japanese and Indonesian themes feels like it’s a world away from the surfer’s paradise, Bali.
We were impressed by their efforts to keep their cocktail list Asian-themed, and the Coco Sexo is a total winner.
It’s a cocktail served in a coconut shell, with vanilla, passion fruit and more going into the mix.
Not only is it a wonderful drink, but there are very few drinks anywhere else on the planet that will look as good in your Instagram feed as it does.

Sling Bar @ The Plantation Grill: Identity Confusion Is Fine By Us
Sling Bar sometimes needs clarification as to its identity, which might make it the perfect bar in 2023.
The interior decor is all about 1920s elegance, which really works and makes for some fantastic photos with friends and loved ones.
But the cocktail menu is inspired by rock and roll classics, and while we loved their Purple Haze (a nod to the late, great Jimi Hendrix) is awesome, we’re still determining what that has to do with the 1920s.
Nonetheless, we’d happily go back because whatever the theme clashes may be, the drinks are fantastic. Oh, and it’s above the Plantation Grill, which is a brilliant place to eat, too.

R Bar Renaissance Uluwatu: Day Time Drinking Heaven
Most bars are all about sunsets and evenings, but sometimes, you want a drink during the day and when you do? The R Bar is where to go.
You’ll find plenty of expats, guests and even the occasional local with the same idea here. The drinks are excellent, and the panoramic views from here are awe-inspiring.
