That’s because Blahmantung Waterfall is off the beaten path and in some of the nicest countryside in Bali.

Because it’s a bit out of the way, getting to Blahmantung Waterfall takes quite a bit of time from everywhere people stay in Bali.

So, if you want to spend some time on a nature trail in the middle of the island, the best way to visit Blahmantung Waterfall is either part of an organized tour group (but there aren’t many tours that include this place) or to hire a private car and driver.

The good news is that hiring a car and driver is cheap and you won’t spend more than 500,000 IDR including car, driver and petrol for the day. That’s about $35 USD or $50 AUD.

There’s no bad time of year to visit the waterfalls in Bali, particularly one as big as Blahmantung Waterfall.

However, it’s worth noting that if you come towards the end of the rainy season, you will see the waterfall at its most spectacular.

But, if you do opt to visit in the wet season, you should wear good shoes as the trail down to the waterfall is very steep and the path can get very slippery.

You should always be careful with how you walk at any of the other waterfalls in Bali, but this one is located in the middle of nowhere and if you fall down on the slippery rocks, it may be a long and painful trip to Ubud or the beach towns (Kuta, Canggu, Seminyak, etc.) to get treatment.

Is There An Entrance Fee For Blahmantung Waterfall?

As we go to press there is an entrance fee at Blahmantung Waterfall and it’s 20,000 IDR per person (that’s $1.40 USD or $2 AUD). Locals get in for half price.

It’s worth noting that entrance fees across Bali are on the rise and while we try to keep our ultimate guide to every attraction up to date, we may not have heard of a change before you go, so take a little extra cash with you.

What To Expect At Blahmantung Waterfall

Blahmantung Waterfall is in a pleasant country location surrounded by fruit trees and coffee plantations and it’s nice to explore the local area and talk to the locals before you head down the trail and immerse yourself in the falls.

You should be aware that the trail that leads to the waterfall is steep and can get very slidy when it’s wet. It’s about 800 meters from the car park before you discover the waterfall and you should walk carefully.

The trail begins next to a smaller side waterfall right next to the path and then you follow the trail for about 200 meters, go right and this steep trail will take you to Blahmantung Waterfall.

If you go the other way, it will take you to the Blemantung Waterfall (or sometimes Rajapala Waterfall) which is worth a visit even if the name sounds confusing because it’s so similar to Blahmantung Waterfall.

Once you finally reach Blahmantung Waterfall, you’re free to take photos to your heart’s content and embark on a little swimming in the pool at the base of the waterfall. It’s one of the nicer places for swimming at waterfalls because Blahmantung Waterfall sees relatively few visitors and the water is beautiful and clean.

This is really a long way off the beaten track in Bali and you won’t find too many places to stay nearby but these three places are all very nice:

Things To Do Near Blahmantung Waterfall

There are a few other places to visit in this area that are worth seeing and you’ll need to drive to most of them, they’re not in walking distance of the waterfall.

Vihara Dharma Giri

This is a touch unusual for Bali, it’s a Buddhist temple that is completely operational and serves a local Buddhist community.

It’s free to enter and unlike at Hindu temples – you don’t need to wear a sarong or shawl, though you must cover your shoulders, knees and chest.

Bau Waterfall

If you thought that the Blahmantung Waterfall was obscure, then the Bau Waterfall is known only to a few local visitors.

It’s very far off the beaten trail and we’d recommend that you hire a guide from the island to help you locate it.

It’s worth the trip though, it’s one of the most unspoiled spots in Bali and it’s excellent for swimming at.

Pura Batur Ganggsian

This place ought to be famous in Bali but almost no one has heard of it. It’s the largest megalithic site on the island. It has yet to be properly excavated and it remains something of a mystery.

Yes, it’s Bali’s answer to Stonehenge and if you go, the odds are pretty good that you will be the only people there. Possibly, the only people to have visited in months.

Pura Perguangan Kapas Jawa

An old temple that was founded by Javanese warriors just outside of Tinggarsari Village.

They still hold an authentic Javanese cotton service, which is the only such service in Bali.

Pura Siwa

An elegant Hindu temple that is one of the primary places of worship for Lord Shiva in Bali.

Blemantung Waterfall

Yes, it’s really got a name as similar to Blahmantung Waterfall as can be and it’s only a few hundred yards away too.
