Nestled on the slopes of Mount Agung, Taman Edelweis Bali is a vibrant escape for nature lovers and photographers alike.
The park is famous for its delicate Edelweiss flowers, which bloom against a backdrop of rolling hills, rice terraces, and the dramatic peaks of East Bali.
Whether you’re chasing the perfect sunrise shot, enjoying a quiet walk among the blooms, or exploring the cultural highlights nearby, the garden offers a refreshing break from the usual tourist trail.
Where Is Taman Edelweis Bali?

Taman Edelweis is located in East Bali, in Temukus Village, Besakih, in the Rendang District, Karangasem Regency.
It’s just a short drive down the road from Besakih Temple, on the foothills of Mount Agung, making it easy to pair a visit to both on the same trip.
From Ubud, it’s roughly 1 hour 20 minutes by car (about 45 kilometres), following a scenic route through rice terraces and mountain roads.

How To Get There

Getting to Taman Edelweis really depends on where you’re coming from and what your further plans are. Though it’s not difficult to reach from anywhere, it seems an unlikely place to visit on its own if you’re coming from afar.
If you plan to stay in the area, and/or visit several other locations, then it makes a little more sense, and there are several options.
Of course, if you’re already in the area, then it’s very easy to get to.
- Grab or Gojek – If you’re staying in the area, then a taxi-hailing app such as Grab or Gojek would be a cheap and reliable option. Though you may find it more difficult to hail a driver than in the more tourist areas.
- Private Car and Driver – Another option would be to hire a private car and driver. This way, you could make a day trip, hitting several different spots and not just the gardens. Handy if you’re coming from somewhere like Ubud, or even Canggu, as you could return the same day at a push. If you’re not sure where to go, the local driver or your hotel can often help you design an itinerary. This is a hassle-free way to explore, without the worry of how to get back to your hotel
- Group Tour – Visiting the Edelweiss park and surrounding areas as part of a group tour is another option. This is great if you’re travelling alone and want to meet people. A downside is less flexibility.
- Motorcycle or Scooter Hire – As tempting as it may be to rent a bike or scooter, we generally recommend against it. It’s unlikely that you’ll be legal to ride on the roads, opening you up to issues with the police and insurance. To go with this, Bali’s roads can be challenging and dangerous, so don’t let them ruin your holiday!
When Is The Best Time To Visit Taman Edelweis Bali?
One of the best times is to visit early in the morning, just after sunrise, when the air is cooler, the light is soft, and the garden is peaceful before the arrival of local and foreign tourists.
For a different perspective, consider going in the late afternoon to catch the sunset, which lights up the slopes of Mount Agung.
Both times of day offer a more tranquil experience and make for a memorable visit, whether you’re walking, taking photos, or simply enjoying the mountain views.
For the best blooms, plan your visit during the dry season, roughly April to October, when the weather is clearer and the fields are at their peak. During the wet season, rain can make the paths slippery, so extra care is needed if you decide to visit between November and March.
Is There An Entrance Fee To Taman Edelweis Bali?
Yes, at the time of going to press, there was a small entrance fee, which helps maintain the garden and its paths. The entrance ticket price varies depending on who you are and what you’re doing there.
Domestic tourists pay IDR 30,000, while foreign visitors pay IDR 50,000.
The ticket gives full access to the fields and paths, making it a great value for anyone spending a day exploring the garden and the surrounding area.
If you’re planning a pre-wedding or professional photo shoot, the park also offers a “Pre-Wedding Ticket” for IDR 300,000.
What To Expect At Taman Edelweis Bali

Visiting Taman Edelweis Bali is a refreshing escape into the cool mountain air of East Bali. The garden sits on gentle slopes, with paths winding through the Edelweiss flowers and open spaces that give beautiful views of the surrounding hills and mountains.
In full bloom, the Kasna Flowers create a white carpet across the landscape, and the sunset lighting up the fields and slopes is a sight you won’t forget.
The terrain is slightly uphill and narrow in places, so wear comfortable shoes and be extra careful of your footing. You’ll want to pace yourself if you’re walking the full route.
Expect a mix of visitors: local tourists enjoying a weekend outing and foreign tourists chasing the perfect photo. There are many interesting photo spots along the way, from shaded corners to open viewpoints, making it ideal for photography enthusiasts or anyone looking for Instagram-worthy shots.
The garden is best explored at a leisurely pace, giving you time to enjoy the tranquillity, fresh air, and occasional gentle breeze sweeping down from the mountain slopes.

FAQs
Shouldn’t The Correct Spelling Be Edelweiss? With Two “S” At The End?
Yes, the flower’s name in English and German is Edelweiss with a double “s.”
However, the official name of the attraction in Bali is Taman Edelweis (with one “s”), but you’ll often see it written as “Edelweiss Park” or “Edelweiss Gardens” online.
Both point to the same place, the flower fields in Temukus Village, so don’t worry if you see the spelling change.
Where Do Edelweiss Flowers Come From?
Edelweiss flowers are native to high-altitude regions, most famously the Alps, but the variety grown in Bali has adapted to the mountain slopes of East Bali.
In Taman Edelweis Bali, the flowers, called Kasna flowers locally, thrive in the cool, fresh air of Temukus Village, creating that striking white carpet across the garden.
Can I Pick The Flowers?
No, picking the flowers is not allowed.
The garden is carefully maintained to ensure the blooms remain for everyone to enjoy, and removing them could damage the plants. Instead, visitors are encouraged to take plenty of photos and appreciate the blooms in their natural setting.
Walking through the slightly uphill paths, with the mountain backdrop and lush greenery, gives you plenty of chances to capture perfect shots without disturbing anything.
Final Thoughts On Taman Edelweis Bali
Taman Edelweis Bali is more than just a flower park – it’s a gateway to the natural beauty and cultural richness of Karangasem.
Pair a visit with nearby Besakih Temple or a trek up Mount Agung for a full day of adventure.
With its endless photo spots and peaceful atmosphere, it’s an essential trip for travellers looking to experience a quieter, greener, or should we say “whiter” side of the island!
