If you want to visit the Hidden Mini Zoo Bali, you can easily get a Grab or Gojek from any part of the island and it will be easy enough to get a ride-share when you want to go home too.

You might also consider the use of a private car and driver (this costs about 500,000 IDR/$35 USD/$50 AUD for 8 hours) which would then be able to take you to other sights in the area.

However, given how much there is to do in this area with relatively little travel required, we’d stick to Grab or Gojek.

There’s no bad time of year to visit this island or the Hidden Mini Zoo Bali, while this is mainly an outdoor area, you should be fine to visit during either the rainy season or the dry season, as long as it’s not raining heavily at the time.

You don’t need to get to the Hidden Mini Zoo Bali early in the day, either. At the moment, this wonderful place hasn’t been discovered by most tourists in Bali and it’s rarely busy. This is a good thing for the animals and the staff there as it means they get more quality time together.

What To Expect At Hidden Mini Zoo Bali

The Hidden Mini Zoo Bali is not a huge commercial venture. It’s run by a team of locals who are passionate about the welfare of the animals within their care.

It’s set up as a place where you can wander around and meet the creatures. You will be allowed to interact with most of the animals and you can take as many pictures as you want, there are no hidden fees for this.

You’ll find they have a wide range of reptiles, snakes, spiders and small mammals and kids will absolutely love the freedom to learn about them close up.

Our impression and that of most other visitors is that this is a place where the zoo has some of the happiest occupants on Earth.

Where else in Bali can you cuddle a python or let a fruit bat hug your hand? We can’t think of anywhere and if we could, it wouldn’t be as nice and ethical as this zoo is.

We’d also note that on a clear day, you get a great view over the rice fields with Mount Agung in the background if you stop for a coffee at the restaurant before you leave.

Where To Eat Near Hidden Mini Zoo Bali

There is a restaurant in the Hidden Mini Zoo Bali and you should consider eating there if you want to help support the work of the zoo, but there are also a few places in the vicinity that you might want to check out including:

  • Jarimanis Patisserie – this is a charming cake shop, ideal for exorcising the sweet tooth of any little ones you brought to the Hidden Mini Zoo Bali. It’s also incredibly cheap for what it is. We go every time we pass through Sukawati.

  • Lawar Plek Babi Ketewel – this is your typical Balinese warung setup and it serves a generous and tasty portion of mixed chicken rice for very little money. They do serve pork which is why there’s “babi” in the name of the restaurant.

  • Warung Mek Resi – this is a very highly regarded Balinese restaurant that is super popular with the locals, their Rujak Kuah Pindang is said to be the best on the island and the prices are very reasonable too.

  • Kulidan Kitchen & Space – this is a very attractive outdoor restaurant set in a charming garden and waited on by a super friendly team of people. They also have regular events which showcase the talent of local artists.

  • Pandang Kopi – a charming local coffee shop with some very nice coffee blends for extremely affordable prices. The cold brew with peach syrup is one of the most interesting drinks that we’ve ever had and super tasty.

Where To Stay At Hidden Mini Zoo Bali

The Hidden Mini Zoo Bali might be hidden, but the location is excellent and you’re not far from some of the best hotels on the island and these include:

  • Swan Paradise: A Pramana Experience – this is a really beautiful hotel with an excellent pool area. The rooms could, perhaps, be a little bigger but the service is exceptional and it’s in a wonderful area surrounded by nature.

  • Tiis Garden Puri – this is a very basic place and you shouldn’t expect hot water. However, it’s set in a lovely garden and they make some very nice food in their onsite restaurant. For the price, it’s very good value for money.

  • Kutus Kutus Ketewel Villa – if you want an upmarket villa break then this reasonably priced private pool villa is a wonderful place to stay. There are 6 bedrooms, big bathtubs and much more for you to enjoy.

  • Bali Masari Villas & Spa – this is a great place and the villas with plunge pools are very fairly priced. The onsite spa is lovely and the views over the local countryside are first-rate.

  • Celuk Guest House – a charming local guest house where you will feel like one of the family and you certainly won’t break the bank staying here.
