Fiji Waterfall is an amazing place and it’s right next to one of the biggest attractions in Bali – Sekumpul Waterfall.
While it’s not as big as its neighbour, it has three waterfalls that cascade down the cliffs and the pool at the bottom of suitable for bathing and swimming.
Our complete guide to Fiji Waterfall will explain what you can expect if you want to do a little trekking after some time at Sekumpul Waterfall.
Where Is Fiji Waterfall?
The Bali Fiji Waterfall is a hidden waterfall next to Sekumpul Waterfall in North Bali and most people will see Fiji Waterfall when they visit Sekumpul Waterfall. It’s very easy to see on the Google Map of this area.
Where Is It? R59J+RJ, Sudaji, Sawan, Buleleng Regency, Bali
How To Get To Fiji Waterfall?
Fiji Waterfall is in the Buleleng Regency and that means it’s in the North of the island. You will need to either join a tour, use your own transport or hire a private car and driver to get you to this area if you’re staying in the beach towns of Canggu, Jimbaran, Seminyak, Kuta, etc. or in Ubud.
It’s a long enough drive that you’ll want to stay in this part of the island for a day or three rather than trying to cram this into a day trip.
You need to do a little trekking after passing Sekumpul Waterfall to get to Fiji Waterfall and we’d say this was moderately challenging.
The Trail To Fiji Waterfall
You follow the trail from Sekumpul crossing and you will come across a washed-out bridge, there’s a trail cutback at this point that creates a new path to replace the one that was washed away.
You then have to ford the river (the water is not quite up to your knees) several times, so make sure you’re prepared to get wet.
However, the good news is that if you follow this path through the trees, you will be rewarded with an amazing series of falls (they’re about 40 meters tall – so they’re still very impressive) and far fewer visitors than the main Sekumpul Waterfall location.
When Is The Best Time To Visit Fiji Waterfall?
We always recommend getting to a waterfall in Bali early in the morning if it attracts lots of tourists, because this will usually be the quietest time of day.
It’s also the best time for photography in the Golden Hour light and you can head straight to this waterfall and then come back to Sekumpul Waterfall when you’re done.
Is There An Entrance Fee For Fiji Waterfall?
Yes, you will need to join a trekking tour at Sekumpul Waterfall to get to this place and that means a fee of 200,000 IDR per person.
The price includes a guide to lead you to Fiji waterfall without any accidents befalling you on the way.
There is also a car parking area which costs just 2,000 IDR per vehicle to use.
Please note, as with most attractions in North Bali, you can only pay in cash, so if you want to go exploring here, make sure you bring some notes – it’s a long drive to an ATM from this point.
Fiji Waterfall Opening Hours
The Fiji Waterfall is open at the same time as Sekumpul Waterfall which is from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day of the year except for Nyepi.
What To Expect At Fiji Waterfall
The three waterfalls running down the cliff here look amazing and after the hike, you will be glad to see them.
If you’ve got camera gear, make sure it’s water-resistant before bringing it too close to the falls as there is a fair amount of mist in the air.
You can swim in the pool below Fiji Waterfall and it’s one of the biggest pools we’ve seen at a waterfall in Bali, there’s more than enough room for all the visitors that make it as far as the Fiji Waterfalls.
If you don’t want to walk to this waterfall, you will find there’s a viewpoint near the entrance to the waterfalls area where you can get great views (and photos) of both Fuji Waterfall and Sekumpul Waterfall.
Where To Stay Near Fiji Waterfall
There are plenty of places to stay in this area too including:
Buda’s Homestay Lemukih – this charming local homestay has the advantage of the fact that its owner is basically a free local guide and he will teach you a huge amount about the waterfalls, and local area for no extra cost.
Ananda Homestay – a lovely homestay run by a sweet and kind local family.
Taman Dari – a pleasant small hotel with amazing views over the rice paddies and with a private parking area.
Rostika Hotel & Camping Sekumpul – this place is basic but cheap and has lovely views of the local countryside
Camping Ground Teben Kayoan Hill Desa Lemukih – if you fancy a night in a tent, this is the place to do it. It’s not glamping per se, but it’s close enough.
Where To Eat Near Fiji Waterfall
You will have to travel away from the waterfalls to find restaurants in this area but some of the best are:
Warung Fuji Terrace Rice View – with superlative views over the local rice fields, they don’t have to do much to keep people happy but the food is first rate too!
Warung Dukuh Sekumpul – a very nice noodle shop that is run by a local family. They also offer guides for the local waterfalls and they’re cheaper than you’ll find at the falls themselves.
Kedai Amertha Ayu – a lovely restaurant in the jungle with superb local food. It’s very cheap too.
Hanging Restaurant & Bar – it’s a bit of a hike to get to the front door of this place but it’s worth it. The food is excellent (as is the coffee) and you can walk down the steps straight to Sekumpul Waterfall!
Spice Warung & Restaurant – a pleasant enough place, the food’s not amazing but the views are excellent.
Things To Do Near Fiji Waterfall
There are a few things to do near the Fiji Waterfalls, much of it in Lemukih Village, including:
Sekumpul Waterfall – we don’t see how anyone visits Bali Fiji Waterfall without spending time at Sekumpul Waterfall too
Wisata Selfie Batu Aya Rice Fields Lemukih – this is a lovely spot to take photos in the rice fields of this part of Bali without another tourist in sight. The natural beauty of this area is quite incredible.
Water Slide Lemukih – this is one of a few natural waterslides in Bali and it’s so much fun (and as far as we can tell, completely safe) that we’d recommend it to anyone.
Secret Waterfall – we mention this waterfall mainly to tell you to avoid the place. It’s haunted by some of the worst tourism mafia in Bali and you may be expected to hire a very expensive guide for a very easy walk.
Jacuzzi Waterfall – it may only be a short drive from Secret Waterfall but this site is entirely free and even the parking is free! Given the propensity for tourism mafia in this part of Bali, that’s a great deal.
FAQs
What Is The Biggest Waterfall In Bali?
Sekumpul Waterfall is the biggest waterfall in Bali. You find that Sekumpul Waterfall falls from a height of about 80 meters and makes a pretty impressive roar as it does so.
The triple waterfall that is Fuji Waterfall is right next to Sekumpul Waterfall and we’d recommend that you check out all three waterfalls after you visit Sekumpul Waterfall.
What’s The Most Peaceful Major Waterfall In Bali?
Most of the waterfalls in Bali are very peaceful places, as long as you’re visiting one of the lesser-known waterfalls or visiting in the early morning when most people are still in bed.
However, of the big attractions, we’d say that Banyumala Waterfall is often the most peaceful.
What Is The Best Waterfall To Visit In Bali?
Every waterfall in Bali has its own unique character and there are so many to choose from that we can’t pick a favourite.
Sekumpul Waterfall is probably the most popular because of its size, but we quite like the Munduk Waterfall Trail which offers access to several waterfalls and has very few crowds of tourists.
Can You Swim In Bali Waterfalls?
You can swim at some, but not all waterfalls in Bali. Where you can’t swim, it’s usually because the pools are either inaccessible or there’s a risk of injury from the water coming down above.
If you do swim, please remember to wear swimming clothes at all times, to do otherwise might be considered disrespectful and land you in trouble with the law.
How To Book A Bali Holiday To See Fiji Waterfall
We always recommend that people book their Bali holidays through the Bali Res Centre.
This is a locally owned and operated travel service that can ensure you see everything you want to see and get great deals on hotels, transport and tours.
Final Thoughts On Visiting Fiji Waterfall
A visit to the triple waterfall that is the Fiji Waterfalls is practically mandatory if you’re going to see Sekumpul Waterfall. As you can see on Google Maps these fresh-water falls are right next to each other and it just makes sense to visit both at the same time.
Visitors can explore the whole area and descending down into the valley for the trek to these falls helps build a connection between tourists and the environment. We’d say that this is one of the “don’t miss” places if you’re in this part of Indonesia.
