Our Favourite Ubud Waterfalls In Bali

The following waterfalls are located within max 30 minutes from the Ubud centre and can be easily accessible.

1. Suwat Waterfall

suwat waterfall

This small waterfall, 30 minutes from central Ubud, is one of the closest waterfalls to Ubud and one of the best to start with: fewer crowds, nice photos, relaxing atmosphere.

Suwat waterfall is super easy to access, there are signs and a well-maintained path, plus, by the parking lot at the main area, there is a changing area and a toilet. From the parking to the waterfall is just about a 5-minute walk.

Its 7-meter deep pool is good for swimming, but it isn’t very large – it is naturally enclosed by surrounding large rocks. The water is usually greenish but clean.

If you feel adventurous, you can jump from about 2m.

For a little tip, locals will arrange for you to have epic photos on a bamboo raft with the waterfall as a backdrop.

Sumampan Waterfall

Sumampan waterfall is only a 20-minute drive from Ubud centre.

It is a small waterfall with flat rocks (as it is an old quarry) to chill on and a waist-deep pool connected to the river for a refreshing dip.

Relatively easy to access, just a short walk down the steep stairs. Along the way and in the river, you should take a moment to check out carved stone statues locals have been making over the past years.

The trail leading to the waterfall will take you through the lush green jungle, moss-covered mythic stone carvings, and you can also visit a temple.

It is not crowded at all, and you can take amazing pics on the swing, jump in the water, swim, and chill.

Where Is It? Jl. Goa Jl. Rang Reng, Bakbakan, Gianyar, Gianyar Regency, Bali 80515, Indonesia

Taman Beji Griya Waterfall Temple

Taman Beji Griya is a beautiful waterfall 30 minutes from Ubud, on the sacred Hindu temple grounds, perfect for those looking to do the water purification ceremony.

At the entrance, you will find some locals selling drinks and snacks, too.

Where Is It? Jl. Mawar, Punggul, Kec. Abiansemal, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80352, Indonesia

Entrance fee: 300,000 IDR (30 AUD) for a tour and drink.

5. Manuaba Waterfalls

Manuaba Waterfalls

Manuaba waterfall is one of the nearest to Ubud (just 20 minutes away), close to Tegalalang rice terraces, and it is also one of our favourites in Central Bali.

To reach it, you will trek a bit through the lush jungle and canyons. The route is actually a loop, and you will get not one waterfall, but two. You can swim in the second waterfall.

On top, there is a cafe to have some food and also a swing to take photos.

Where Is It? Kenderan, Tegallalang, Gianyar Regency, Bali 80561, Indonesia

Entrance fee: 30,000 IDR (3 AUD)

6. Uma Anyar Waterfall

Uma Anyar Waterfall

Just 20 minutes outside Ubud, in Gianyar, you can visit another beautiful waterfall with no crowds – Uma Anyar waterfall.

While this waterfall is not ideal for swimming, this tall waterfall and the waters cascading over the flat rocks at its bottom are perfect for pictures. Plus, you can still dip in the river leading to the waterfall.

Unlike other waterfalls, the entrance fee here often already includes a brief waterfall tour.

Where Is It? Kemenuh, Sukawati, Gianyar Regency, Bali 80581, Indonesia

Ulu Petanu is an amazing place for a swim with a small, refreshing pool by the first waterfall. It also has a rock in the water, from which everyone is taking photos.

To be fair, Ulu Petanu is a complex of 3 waterfalls, bamboo bridges, caves, and a trail that goes along the forest, rest areas, and a koi fish pond.

At the entrance, there is a locker and a changing room, as well as a public toilet. Once a hidden gem, it is getting more touristy, so come early in the morning.

It is about a 30-minute drive from Ubud, and you can visit it in one trip with Manuaba and Tangkup Waterfalls.

It is close to Tibumana waterfall, Bangkiang Jaran Waterfall and canyons, and Goa Rang Reng waterfall, too, so you can visit all 4 in one day.

Ulu Cangkir Waterfall

Another waterfall near Ubud and rice terraces is Ulu Cangkir. Very often overlooked by tourists who take a waterfall tour, but if you’re on your own, come for pretty pictures and dipping your toes.

This waterfall is not as powerful as other waterfalls, but it has beautiful cascades, and most of the time, there is no one here.

Along the easy trail leading to the waterfall, there is a small pool, a pond, and a few points to take pics, one with a swing.

Kanto Lampo is a small photogenic waterfall with waters cascading over rocks and a waist-deep natural pool, but you won’t be able to swim in it, as it is rather small and there are lots of people in it.

So many local guides take tourists here, so this waterfall gets really crowded with people lining up to take a photo.

For kids, there are also shallow pools/ponds to splash in and hidden caves to visit.

Like most waterfalls in Bali, Kanto Lampo waterfall is a sacred site. You can visit the temple and even drink holy water from the spring.

The trip from Ubud centre to this waterfall is about 50 minutes by car. From the parking lot, it is about a 15-minute walk down the steep stairs and canyons.

With natural light coming from the top into the cave, and trekking through the canyon, the photos you can take here are absolutely one-of-a-kind.

We recommend either going barefoot or wearing water shoes for getting through the knee-deep canyons. During the rainy season, double-check with locals; it may not be safe to visit.

Where Is It? Jl. Tembuku, Tembuku, Kec. Tembuku, Kabupaten Bangli, Bali 80671, Indonesia

Entrance fee: 30,000 IDR (3 AUD)

4. Goa Rajo Waterfall

Goa Rajo Waterfall

50 minutes from Ubud, you can find another postcard-worthy waterfall that’s great for swimming, too – Goa Rajo.

There is a maintained path and a bit of it goes through a canyon, spacious parking, a changing room, and a cafe with Indonesian food.

We have to say that the pool for swimming here is semi-natural; the water is from the waterfall, but the pool was walled off by villagers to make the attraction more enjoyable.

Unlike many popular waterfalls that you have to visit early morning to avoid crowds, this waterfall is peaceful even in the afternoon.

Where Is It? Jehem, Tembuku, Bangli Regency, Bali 80671, Indonesia

Entrance fee: 25,000 IDR (2.5 AUD)

Pelisan Waterfalls

Pelisan Waterfalls near Nungnung waterfall are also incredibly beautiful and less popular. True off-the-beaten-path natural attraction.

This is one of our favourite waterfalls in Bali since it is almost the only waterfall with the illusion of just coming through the dense rainforest spreading like a net.

There is a natural pool as well, pretty cold, as we are well up north.

Quite easy to access, even for kids or older people.

Where Is It? Langgahan, Kintamani, Bangli Regency, Bali 80572, Indonesia
