This is a carnivore and pescatarian’s dream come true with a large grill area dedicated to turning protein into tasty dishes.
They do some amazing meatballs, an excellent wagyu steak and some superb local catch of the day too.
Make sure to save some space for your dessert as the bread pudding, which is nothing like the British bread pudding, is world-class.

Lacalita
This is a lovely little Mexican restaurant that does a wonderful frozen margarita or five to help you get into the authentic Mexican mod.
They are able to provide gluten-free versions of most dishes which is super handy if you have a celiac sufferer in your party. (It’s prepared completely separately from the other dishes – no chance of contamination at all).
The quesadillas and tacos are every bit as good as you’d expect them to be at this price point too.

Bali Coffee Club
This cafe is open all day long and if you want some great local coffee with your dinner, it’s a superb place to come.
However, it can get very popular at certain times of day and there’s no doubt that when it’s super busy, the service can suffer – so try to go early in the evening if you can.
We visit the Bali Coffee Club when we’re looking to have a team dinner out of work and we don’t want to spend a fortune.

Cocomo Canggu
Cocomo deserves a bigger name than it has in the local food scene as the meals here are mouthwatering and delicious.
You’ll find that the staff here are sweet and kind and only too happy to take some time to explain the menu or to modify things based on dietary requirements.
We love the fact that they have a big vegan and vegetarian menu in addition to something that will keep the carnivores happy.

Cantina Classe, Italian Restaurant Canggu by Wonderspace
Wonderspace is home to several excellent restaurants and it’s a major part of the restaurant scene here in Canggu.
Their Italian offering is Cantina Classe and it’s all about bringing you the flavours of Italy with homemade gelato, pasta and pizza.
Our only complaint about Cantina Classe is that it’s a bit expensive for what it is, but this hidden gem rarely disappoints with the quality of its food.

The Common Bali
This Mexican-themed cafe is all about the tequila and their margaritas are usually on such a good deal that it’s worth visiting just to sample them.
The portions of food here are incredibly generous and it’s unknown for anyone to leave The Common feeling hungry.
It’s also quite reasonably priced for this area of Canggu and if you’re on a budget in the Batu Bolong area, The Common is a good place to stop for a feed.

Boheme Restaurant
This beachside coworking space has a pool that you can use to take a dip in between courses if you want.
The crowd here is very young and upbeat with an emphasis on laptop working away from home, but don’t let that put you off having dinner here.
The menu is reasonably varied and the duck with buttered mashed potatoes was a real highlight of our visit here.

12 Urban has an amazing international menu but the reason we visit is that they have regular movie nights which are free of charge to diners.
It’s a very kid-friendly vibe and if you bring your little ones, they’re sure to make some friends among the other diner’s children.
One really nice touch here is that everyone gets a free glass of iced water before they order.

Don Juan Mexican Restaurant
The pork carnitas burrito at Don Juan is absolutely delicious and one of our favourite Mexican meals on the island.
The prices are extremely fair at this family-run restaurant not far from Pererenan Beach.
If it’s your birthday, the friendly staff can usually rustle up a slice of cake to help you celebrate too.

This small tapas bar near Berawa Beach is only open from 3 p.m. so please only come for dinner or you risk disappointment.

This is a pleasant spot for a bit of Indonesian dinner and while it is a bit pricier than the average warung, the presentation and flavours make up for it.
We love that everything here is wrapped in leaves rather than plastic or paper too.

This is a superb Japanese restaurant and their signature dumplings are worth a trip to Menya Kenji by themselves.
The only downside about this place is the lighting is a bit too subtle and it can be hard to read the menu, but if you make the effort, you will be rewarded with delicious food.

Laci is a top-notch Indonesian restaurant that is all about the flawless execution of local classics.
However, on our visit, while we did enjoy the food, we had to note that the portions were a little on the small side.

St. Tropez
We saved one of the best to last. St. Tropez has just reopened and you can enjoy some of the best food on the island at this part of FINNS VIP Beach Club.
It’s the best party restaurant in town and regularly tops the TripAdvisor standings for Canggu.
If you want to wine and dine in style, you can’t beat St. Tropez.
