Unfortunately, the white sandy beach which once was Candidasa Beach was mostly washed away years ago, but it’s a popular spot for swimming, snorkelling and diving. The town itself has no shortage of hotels and restaurants.

The Balinese-style rooms, bungalows and villas are surrounded by flower gardens, and all include things such as satellite TV, free wi-fi, and a terrace or balcony, some with sea views and some with garden views. Some villas come with a private pool and hot tub.
The great pool is right by the beach, and there is a small track with free bikes available. The open-air restaurant serves delicious food, we loved the Italian there and the pizza was amazing.

Temple Cafe & Seaside Cottages
In the budget range of hotels in Candidasa, this beautiful guest house should not be overlooked.
Set right on the beachfront, the cottages have private terraces, ceiling fans and shared bathrooms, a kind of no-frills setup, but the property offers some upgraded rooms with private bathrooms and air conditioning. Like most hotels in Candidasa, they still have free wi-fi.
It has its own restaurant and lounge bar, Temple Cafe, and the property features a view of Mount Anung! The lovely staff help to make this place, and they make a great breakfast.

Sagara Candidasa
Our first of the boutique hotels on the list, Sagara Candidasa offers accommodation in the mid-price range, with beautiful rooms tastefully decorated in a traditional yet modern Balinese style. This is one of the nicest boutique hotels in Candidasa.
The infinity pool here is one of the best, looking right out to the sea, with lovely loungers on both sides. The restaurant serves Asian fusion food, mixing Indonesian dishes with food from other cultures, and the wonderful and attentive staff cook every dish to perfection.
If you want to dine together in privacy then room service is available.
It’s only a short walking distance to the Lotus Lagoon, the famous freshwater lagoon which is like one huge lily pond.

Sea Breeze Candidasa is best known for its infinity pool which looks out towards the Straight of Lombok and the island of Nusa Penida. We could’ve stayed in that pool for hours admiring the view, truly spectacular.
The luxurious bungalows here feature garden views leading down to the private beach. There are upgraded villas available with a hot tub and private dining area, perfect for that room service. The open-air restaurant serves a great breakfast with a sea view.
This is one of the more luxury hotels in Candidasa, but we found the prices to be very fair, and well worth the money.

Puri Bagus is an all-villa beachfront resort at the eastern end of Candidasa Beach.
The Balinese-style villas have all the usual amenities such as free wi-fi, TV, and minibar, and they all have semi-open-air showers which are beautiful.
The year-round outdoor pool has a cabana bar, and there are a lot of activities including spa treatment, a yoga and meditation room, cooking classes, fishing, and local tours to experience the local traditional lifestyle.

Ramayana Candidasa Beach Resort is simply amazing.
The outdoor swimming pool leads to a private beach, and the private bungalows are surrounded by beautiful gardens.
There’s a mini golf course here, which is great fun for everyone not just the children, and there’s a well-kitted-out fitness centre. Wi-fi is available all over the resort grounds, making it the perfect place to work.
This is one place to consider if you like luxury hotels, and its grounds and buildings make it one of the most tranquil and beautiful hotels in Candidasa.
The price is still pretty reasonable though, with mid to high-range rooms available.

This is a small bungalow resort right on the beach, while is not up in the ranks of the luxury hotels, its atmosphere and style make this one of the best hotels in Candidasa for guests to escape into their own world of peace and tranquillity.
Set in beautiful gardens, the casual bungalows have all the modern cons like free wifi but also have open-air showers, great for them star-filled nights. Upgraded villas are provided with shared pools and private hot tubs, and room service is available to all.
This place has a great bar, and we loved the cocktails, but our favourite part is the service, where the hotel staff will bring your drinks right to you whilst you are swimming in the sea.

Alila Manggis is, without a doubt, one of the nicest boutique hotels in Candidasa; situated in a large coconut grove on the beachside it’s truly an escape from reality.
There’s a range of minimalist rooms ranging from king size to superior to seaside suite. All rooms are in the high price range. All of the rooms have private balconies or terraces, and upgraded rooms have sea views.
There’s a guest lounge and an open-air restaurant with a lotus pond, Sea Salt Manggis, which serves some fantastic Balinese dishes, it really is good food, including free breakfast. Other features include an outdoor pool, a spa and beach access, the nearest beach being Buitan Beach.
The property offers free parking on-site, though you wouldn’t notice because this place is huge.

This upmarket beach resort has twenty bungalows, each with elegant furnishings, Balinese-style open-air bathrooms, and private terraces.
The outdoor swimming pool is an infinity pool making out to sea, it looks like the water ahead of you is never-ending, and is absolutely breathtaking when the sunset lights the water up.
Its restaurant, The Seed Bali, has some great food and a breakfast buffet, all overlooking the sea.

A small hotel set in beautiful gardens where every single design feature has Balinese culture in mind.
This is a real hidden gem, and it’s worth staying here just for the great Instagram photos you could take! The garden is full of beautiful plants, flowers and ponds, and a small pool in the middle of the quant but beautiful bungalows.
Worth noting here is the restaurant, which has some of the best Indonesian dishes we’ve eaten in all of Candidasa.

This is a true oasis of tranquillity, set on a private beach, well away from the main road and separated by a lush coconut grove.
The design makes it stand out as a modern hotel inside and out, whilst not disconnecting it from the nature surrounding it.
The infinity pool and restaurant look right out to sea, we felt like we were in our own world when we stayed there.

Bali Secrets Retreat is by far the most expensive on our list of hotels in Candidasa, and as soon as we arrived it was easy to see why!
The villas here are the height of luxury. Each provides you with your own terrace and private pool leading to your private beach area. The decor is modern and fresh whilst still keeping aspects of Balinese design.
One, two and three-bedroom villas are available. Your own cooking area is provided should you wish to keep your privacy and prepare your food yourself. Pre-ordered breakfast can be delivered to your villa.
A slice of paradise, if you’re looking to splurge, then this is the hotel for you.

Ashyana Candidasa Beach Resort
This hotel has a very romantic feel, a great place for couples. Some people we met there have returned several years in a row as it’s their favourite hotel.
The infinity pool looks over the sea, and it has its own restaurant which serves some fantastic food.
The beachfront rooms are very spacious and clean, with views of the sea and the outdoor pool, and it’s great listening to the waves gently crashing on the shore at night as you go to sleep.
The prices here are mid to high range, but very fairly priced for the standard of hotel.

Bayshore Villas Candidasa
This resort offers a range of suites and villas with different amenities depending on the price.
Some of the rooms have open-air bathrooms, living areas, ocean views, and/or balconies or terraces, while upgraded rooms have kitchenettes and private pools or plunge pools.
There is more than one outdoor pool, a spa, and a restaurant with a shaded terrace, and free breakfast.
Across the street from the hotels is a huge rice field, which is breathtaking.

Hotel Genggong Bali
Hotel Genggong features a large outdoor swimming pool with relaxing terraces and balconies overlooking the sea through a beautiful garden.
There’s also a terrace, a hot tub, and an airy beachside restaurant without outside seating.
The view was so beautiful, and the food so good that we tried the breakfast, lunch and dinner here. Our favourite thing, though, was the Nutella pancakes for dessert.
There’s not much of a beach here, but it’s only a short walk to the Lotus Gardens.

Puri Oka Beach Bungalows
Puri Oka Beach Bungalows gave us a real feeling of traditional Bali when we stayed there, from the decor of the resort to the treatment by the friendly staff.
As well as the outdoor swimming pool and terrace overlooking the sea, there’s a terrace with yoga and meditation classes.
All rooms feature balconies or terraces with garden views or ocean views. Upgraded villas are available with private pools. The whole resort is designed to look like a historical Balinese site, with beautiful entrances to the resort itself and to the beach.
All of this is in a 2-star rated resort, within the budget range. It goes to show, that you don’t have to spend a fortune to find a great hotel in Candidasa.

Dewa Bharata Bungalows Candidasa
Rooms at this hotel are extremely cheap, and at the time of posting, the cheapest on this list. But we can’t see why, as the hotel is great and we had a fantastic time staying there.
Dewa Bharata Bungalows offers rooms with all the amenities you would expect, such as an outdoor pool, air-conditioning, free private parking, room service, beach access, free wifi, and it has a restaurant.
Lotus Lagoon is only a few minutes walk down the road, and somewhere you’ll want to visit if you haven’t been before. It’s simply amazing.
If you want to stay somewhere which is clean and comfortable, with great staff and facilities, set in a great location, then you find that here without spending a fortune.

This small hotel is only a short distance from the beach, which is easy to swim and snorkel from, and the helpful staff can provide you with snorkelling equipment to use.

A really nice and small resort of bungalows set in lush and pretty gardens.
The resort is on the other side of the road away from the beach, but once you’re there you won’t even notice. It was so easy to lose ourselves on the bungalow terrace.
The well-equipped property offers an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a restaurant. The staff here were so friendly, and they will help you with anything that you need.

Neano Escape
The last on our list of hotels is just outside of Candidasa, situated in the nearby town of Manggis, we liked it so much that we included it anyway.
One of the luxury hotels on our list, the resort is nestled in lush trees, slightly up on the hillside with an infinity pool overlooking rice fields, Candidasa and the sea.
Neano Escape features accommodation of both villas and suites with spacious rooms including an amazing presidential villa with its own private terraces and a private pool on the roof.
It has its own restaurant and bar, both of which are top-class, a fitness centre and a wellness retreat, all set within this residential gated resort, which is one of the prided Neano Escape Features. Accommodation here is in the mid-range despite the fantastic quality of the resort.

This upscale beachfront resort features airy and spacious rooms with modern decor and private terraces. We really enjoyed our stay here, and we’d definitely go back again.
The prices were reasonable, the hotel had a clean and modern feel to it, and the location was perfect.
The open-air restaurant and cozy bar are both great to relax in as the sun goes down and the food there was great. There’s also an Ayurvedic centre here, offering treatment, massages and cooking classes.
There is an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden to walk around, and a private beach!

There was once a white sandy beach there, but after construction in the 1970s and 1980s, the natural wave barrier was destroyed and much of the sand was washed away, leaving a rocky beach behind, which is great for walking along.
