If you’d like to see four falls and only deal with one entrance fee then the best place to go in Bali is Banyu Wana Amertha Waterfalls.
This extremely picturesque spot is in the North of the island but if you love waterfalls, it’s worth making the trip for.
Where Is Banyu Wana Amertha Waterfall?
This waterfall is not far from the Twin Lake area in North Bali and that means it’s quite a long way from the beach towns of Canggu, Seminyak, Kuta, etc.
Where Is It? Q4RG+229, Wanagiri, Sukasada, Buleleng Regency, Bali 81161, Indonesia
How To Get To Banyu Wana Amertha Waterfall?
This waterfall is in North Bali in the middle of nowhere and we’d recommend using either your own transport or hiring a car and driver to get here.
Once you arrive at the car park and pay your entrance fee, you can find the trail to the falls clearly marked.
The Trail To Banyu Wana Amertha Waterfall
This isn’t the easiest waterfall in North Bali to get to (head to GitGit or the Banyumala Twin Waterfalls for easier climbs) and it’s going to take about 20-30 minutes of moderate walking to get to and from the main trail.
You will also need to allow 30-60 minutes for walking on the trail itself. That means that in total, you’re going to need around 2 hours to fully explore the Amertha Waterfalls.
If you’re in a rush or don’t fancy the walk down to the path, you can pay a motorbike rider 50,000 IDR to take you to the first waterfall. However, once you’re there, you will need to walk to the other waterfalls as there are parts of the trail that can’t be accessed on a bike.
This waterfall as with all falls in Bali is not suitable for those with mobility issues.
When Is The Best Time To Visit Banyu Wana Amertha Waterfall?
We always recommend visiting the Banyu Wana Amertha Waterfalls as early in the day as you can get there, things tend to get busier the later in the day that you leave things here in Bali and too many tourists can leave you to find that the waterfall disappears behind a sea of influencers and their cameras.
It’s also best to visit any waterfalls in Bali at the end of the rainy season when the water volume in local watercourses is maxed out and you get the most dramatic falls.
Is There An Entrance Fee For Banyu Wana Amertha Waterfall?
Yes, as we go to press there is an entrance fee of 40,000 IDR (that’s roughly $2.50 USD or $4 AUD) for this set of four waterfalls. You will need to follow the entire trail length to see all the waterfalls. Banyu Wana Amertha Waterfall is the biggest of the waterfalls on this popular waterfall trail.
There is an additional charge of 2,000 IDR for parking in the parking area at this waterfall. This is a fairly standard charge at Bali waterfalls and it’s so little money that it shouldn’t matter except for the fact – you must pay for the waterfall tickets and the parking tickets in cash.
You should also know that if you want to use the toilets (both in the car park and near the last two waterfalls) you will have to pay 5,000 IDR in cash to do so.
You can’t use a card of any kind at this place – so, make sure to bring some folding green, ideally in small bills if you want change.
Banyu Wana Amertha Waterfall Opening Hours
The Banyu Wana Amertha Waterfall and the nearby picturesque Bhuana Sari Waterfall are open from 7 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. every day (which is roughly daylight hours), so it’s best not to plan a visit outside of those hours.
What To Expect At Banyu Wana Amertha Waterfall
This is something of a hidden gem and the tiny waterfalls cascading the rocks here are not the draw that places like Sekumpul Waterfall are.
However, this isn’t a completely off-the-beaten-path location either and you’ll find there are vendors all along the paths here offering snacks and drinks.
The first waterfall that you reach is not all that impressive, it’s a single stream that runs down over a cave mouth (yes, you can walk behind the water flow which makes for some great Instagram shots).
However, if you come in the dry season this waterfall may be next to invisible when the local water courses are running low.
The second waterfall is Bhuana Sari and it’s a very pretty spray waterfall running down over a huge number of rocks from the bamboo forests and jack fruit trees above.
There is a pair of splash pools at this waterfall that you can navigate along a rock ledge to get a better view of the falls.
In addition, there’s a small wooden shelter here if you need to get out of a huge cascade of rain.
Banyu Wana Amertha Waterfall is the big waterfall that you encounter third on this trail. It’s by far the prettiest waterfall here and it’s surrounded by exotic plants and vegetation.
Be warned, this waterfall creates a huge amount of mist and if your camera gear isn’t water-resistant, you’ll want to keep it in a dry bag at this place.
The final waterfall sits above a shallow pool and it’s like a miniature version of the third fall.
