While everyone seems to know about Bali Zoo, and Bali Safari and Marine Park, Bali Reptile Park seems to be rather more reluctant to blow its own trumpet and that’s a bit of a shame.

Where Is Bali Reptile Park?
Bali Reptile Park is very close to Ubud in the Gianyar Regency and that means its in Central Bali and easy to get to from most regions of the island.

How To Get To Bali Reptile Park?
If you’re coming from Canggu, Ubud, Seminyak, Kuta, Uluwatu, Nusa Dua, etc. then you can get a Grab or Gojek here.
The area around Ubud is very busy and it’s easy to find a ride home or on to the next place you want to visit when you’ve done all the things you want to at the Reptile Park.
What’s The Best Time To Go To Bali Reptile Park?
There’s no bad time of year to go to the Bali Reptile Park as most of the exhibits are indoors to ensure the safety of both the creatures in their care and the people visiting.
However, as with all attractions in Bali, the later in the day that you choose to visit the Reptile Park, the busier that it becomes.
So, we’d recommend getting there at 9 a.m. when it opens (it’s open every day except for Nyepi) to avoid the crowds if that’s important to you.
Is There An Entrance Fee For Bali Reptile Park?
Yes, there’s an entrance fee for Bali Reptile Park. As with many places in Bali you will find there is a ticket for visitors to the island which costs 200,000 IDR (that’s about $13.50 USD or $20 AUD) per person but is often discounted to 180,000 IDR per person (that’s about $12 USD or $18 AUD)
However, locals and expats holding a KITAS or equivalent status get a discounted ticket for 150,000 IDR (that’s about $10 USD or $15 AUD).
Make sure that when you book, you book the right ticket as you cannot enter the park on the domestic ticket without the right ID and will need to buy a new ticket.
This gets you unlimited access to the park though we think you’ll probably spend no more than an hour total in this place as there’s not a lot to do beyond the three main enclosures.
What To Expect At Bali Reptile Park
The park is divided into three zones:
The Serpent Cave – which as you’d expect contains snakes from the seven regions of the world.
The Hot & Cold Blooded Point – a sort of lizard petting zoo where you can interact with lizards, iguanas, turtles, etc. in a safe and fascinating fashion.
The Limas – a special exhibit where you can see some brightly coloured monitor lizards.
There are also various activities and things for children and adults to participate in during their time within Bali Reptile Park.
Things To Do Near Bali Reptile Park
This is outside of Ubud and thus, there’s plenty to do in the local area including:
Bali Bird Park – if you love birds as well as reptiles, you will find the bird park is right next door and it has the best selection of birds that you’re going to see in Bali. We only wish they’d cooperate and sell a combined ticket for the two parks.
Celuk Village – this is where Bali’s most talented silver and goldsmiths are based and you can not only watch them work but also join a class and make your own jewellery. It’s a great day out for couples.
Puri Kawan Singapadu – it doesn’t get a mention in most guidebooks but there’s a small castle in Ubud and it’s a short drive from the Reptile Park, it looks great in photos too.
Bali Zoo – animal lovers are well catered for in this area and it’s not too far to get to the zoo from the reptile park either. There’s a lot of valuable conservation work being done at Bali Zoo.
Putrawan Museum of Art (PUMA) – yes, technically it’s in Denpasar but it’s not a long drive from the zoo and if you like big airy art spaces with an emphasis on local art, this is an excellent place to visit.
Where To Eat Near Bali Reptile Park
There are plenty of places to eat in this area and some of our favourites include:
Samsam Guling Joblar Malam – if you love babi guling then you’re going to love this place which does excellent babi guling as well as some of the tastiest Indonesian soups we’ve ever tried.
Warung 2M – a popular Balinese restaurant in a garden setting with lovely views as you enjoy tasty but inexpensive treats from the local kitchen.
Agas Bistro – this place has a great international menu and the food is very reasonably priced. It’s a little way away from the main action in Ubud and there’s usually a seat available even at busy times of day
Warung Losni – a great place for local food particularly for vegans as they have a full plant-based Balinese menu on hand. The prices are sensible too, there’s no hidden tourist tax at Warung Losni.
Warung Jambe Boga Sari – a local buffet restaurant where you can try a little of something of everything on offer. However, we’ve had mixed experiences here, sometimes it’s amazing, sometimes, not so much.
Where To Stay Near Bali Reptile Park
Ubud is a great part of the island to stay in and you can find plenty of hotels nearby including:
DATON HOUSE (an Ubud RedPartner) – this is a local homestay and they are super cheap and the family who runs it are very helpful and clued in about the area.
Kirani Joglo – a beautiful hotel that is in the Ubud countryside, it’s one of our favourite places in the area.
Sri Abi Ratu Villa – an attractive four-star hotel that has a nice pool area and excellent service.
Telaga Wana Villa – a lovely family-run villa complex with a wonderful pool area and impeccably clean rooms.
Bumi Linggah Villas Bali – an upmarket villa with all the mod cons you want for a stylish getaway, it’s not too expensive either given the quality of the place.

Where To See King Cobras In Bali?
The best place to check out snake species in Bali is Bali Reptile Park. It has King Cobras and many of the most venomous snakes in the world.
We really enjoyed this part of the park and we loved how close you can get to the snakes without being bitten.
What Are The Little Lizards In Bali?
The smallest lizards you will see on a visit to Bali are the geckos. These are about 3-4 inches long at the most and may run around in your villa or apartment as well as on the walls of most buildings at night.
They’re completely harmless and quite cute to look at.
There are also some tokays wandering about which are bigger than the geckos and make a loud noise that sounds like “tokay”.
These creatures are not harmless and can give a nasty bite. If one invades your space, we’d recommend asking the people who work there to remove it or if you have to shoo it away, use a broom and stand well back, the experience of being bitten by a tokay is unpleasant and can lead to a nasty infection.
Rarely, you may also encounter monitor lizards that are quite big beasts and should be avoided wherever possible.
Komodo Dragons, however, are only found in captivity outside of the islands of Komodo.
